Default Southern California

Hi. In 3 weeks we are going to (from New Zealand) Anaheim for a week, then las vegas for 5 nights then hollywood for two weeks with the possibility of going up to San Francisco for 2-3 nights. Can anyone please recommend any eye opening fishing/boating stores/shops/places or marinas worth visiting? Where would be the best place to go also to maybe see lots of boats and personal water craft for sale? We have a hire car for the trip so can travel to most places. Also will be having a day or two in San Diego. Thanks for your help .

Melton's Tackle is in Anaheim, so that should work. https://www.meltontackle.com/locations

I can make plenty of recommendations for San Diego if you care to be more specific. Marinas and boat dealers should be an easy search. I'm somewhat partial to Newport Beach and its marinas on the way down to San Diego, and of course, our own in San Diego Bay. We loved our New Zealand trip by the way. Great country.

You seems to be in Southern Cal then Vegas then back to Southern Cal, While in Hollywood run over the hill to Van Nuys and Bob Sands fishing Tackle, best tackle store in Southern Cal in my opinion, be sure to let them know you are from New Zealand and looking for new ideas.
Here in Southern Cal we tend to measure distances in time rather than actual miles, the right time of day Anaheim to Hollywood is a 35 minutes drive, rush hour its 2 hours.
While in San Diego be sure to visit Fisherman's Landing, lots of big marinas in SD, access to the boats are secured, you will have to be escorted, find a broker buy him/her lunch let them know what you are trying to do.
If you are driving to SF and have the time, go hwy one, once in a lifetime experience.
Good luck, welcome to Southern California lots of great things and great people here.
PS: there are places you need to stay away from, if you want a heads up, let me know.

Thanks so much for your kind replies. Can not wait, and thanks for the tips, hoping to go to the bass pro store in Las Vegas also, from what I have read boating-fishing shops are so small in NZ compared to US. Have never been to the US before so about to hopefully get eyes opened!! Re the places not to go, I am imagining places like Compton Skid Row and others would be in that list??? Yes NZ is nice, but we have only ever been to Australia before which is only a 2.5 hour flight, so first opportunity to go further was definitely the US! A lot of New Zealanders go to the UK and Europe but the idea of that just doesn't do it for me. Even though we have never been to the US before, I have a love for it in terms of the history, the man made marvels, what it stands for, the size and in my opinion the leading country over the last century for ingenuity, growth, world peace, and lots of other things. Thanks
