Default La Paz Hotels?

I have been to Cabo several times, but this trip I want to check out La Paz, Los Barriles, etc. Can anyone recommend a good hotel? It will be a family trip, 5 of us and the girls will want decent amenities. Want to do drive around and check out the different locations, plus do some charter fishing trips.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I stopped going down there a couple of years ago for obvious reasons: http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2...gang-arrested/

Since my personal experience is not current, I hesitate to vouch for any place in particular. Tourism in Baja has been crippled, and things change with the economy.

A couple of ideas for La Paz: http://www.casstours.com/lapaz.htm

Here's a starting point for the East Cape: http://hotelbuenavista.com/ and http://www.vanwormerresorts.com/

As an East Cape (Los Barriles) alternative: http://abajavacation.com/eastcape_rentals.html

La Concha is nice or the Marina hotel. It's nice to be on the Malacon, great to walk along the ocean in the evening. Check out Baja Nomads forum, lots of La Paz residents will guide you. Good luck, my wife and I loved La Paz.

For a charter, I'd suggest Fisherman's Fleet, they can be reached at

Email: fishermensfleet@hotmail.com
Phone: 1-408-884-3932 (From US)

Dave can talk to you about the lodging you want. He was running a special recently so give him a call to see if it fits in with your plans. The special was more around hard core fisherman, so it sounds like your needs are a little different.

We have stayed at the Marina several times. It is o.k. and not too expensive. It is on the Malecon next to Marina Palmira.
