Default Hawaii Charter Help

I’m going to be in Oahu late June early July and I’m looking for charter recommendations. We’ll be right next to Ko Olina Marina, so anything out of there would be preferred but open to anything. Family of 4, 2 teenage boys, looking for 4 hr trip.

Aloha! Glad you’re heading our way.

I live on Hawaii Island (biggest one farthest east). Here’s some links to help you. When you arrive grab some brochures and ask some locals. I don’t spend much time there but here’s something to get you started.

I’ve heard of these guys. but I’m not affiliated in any way:

here’s a link to our dlnr site. Hope you have a great trip. If you ever get a chance check out Kailua-kona (honokohou harbor). It’s on big island. You should have a huge selection on Oahu.

the ahis (yellow fin tunas) are running here. Been seeing 150-200lbers on my island. Onos (wahoo’s) are pretty common. All of this is dependent on area, conditions, time of year, and targeting. Good luck and hope you get something!

Ko Olina marina has charter boats, and is close to prime Ahi grounds.
Book early, they’re pretty busy!

If you want to keep your catch have that discussion before you leave. Charters sell their catch so it usually stays with the boat.

In addition to where you’re staying
Kewalo and Ala Wai boat basins in Honolulu
Haleiwa- north shore
Heeia kea- windward side near Kaneohe - smaller probably not a ton of charters. 50 First dates was partially filmed here.
Probably forgetting a few.

Other things to keep in mind, in June / July the islands are catching swells from the southern ocean so the south shore will have more swell than the North shore. People don’t realize the north shore is basically flat swell wise during the summer.

Great place with wonderful people (mostly) and some of the best food you’ll ever have.

I am late and so far only found 1 option. Online I have only seen 1 boat out of Ko Olina and it's booked. I have emailed, FB messaged, and called the marina inquiring and haven't been able to get anything. I know that is a nice and large marina, and would assume more than 1 boat running from there. Do you know any boats out of Ko Olina, or where to find info?

For sure, on discussing the catch. Some guys tag smaller marlin and release. And as mentioned others sell catch to offset costs. Also be sure to ask about cleaning services unless you have tools and know how to do it.

it’s best to schedule your fishing as far out as you can vs just showing up. Things get busy here.

My boat is at Ko Olina. There's currently only one charter boat in operation at Ko Olina, Robin's Nest, call Jamie to schedule, he's a friend of mine. If you have any questions, send me a PM, Happy to help.

We have been to Ko Olina before and I am surprised to hear only 1 charter operating out of there. I had previously found Robin's nest and he is already booked. We did find a boat out of Waianae and booked a 6hr trip at the end of the month. Hoping to put my teenage boys on something exciting. Thanks.
