Question Alaska... Cooper Landing and lots of other places...

Definitely NOT a hardcore fishing trip... but would be great if we could get a few Trout or something for the occasional dinner.

I pick up this travel rod:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MQTJW2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MQTJW2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And this set of lures:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I6NWC3K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I6NWC3K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I plan to bring a pair of pliers...

I'm wondering what else is a "must". Wife is mandating nothing heavy, etc. This is "just for fun" we're not looking to pack massive coolers and fly it home. Catch a few to eat and be on our way. If we're someplace next to water, throw a line and see what happens. If a fish, great, if not, great.

Red Salmon should be thick in the middle Kenai, hit up Soldotna trustworthy and buy a flipping set up and head to Centennial park.

Also half day float on upper Kenai with Alaska Rivers Company would be a blast if there’s any fish in the upper river.

Thanks for the tips. We have a day planned with a charter that a fellow THT'er recommended. Excited about that!

I'm going to look at what a "flipping set" is...

Thoughts on the stuff in my links? Horrible or should produce some entertainment?

Ah! Got it. Flipping setup... interesting stuff... ALL very new to me. I'll be happy with a few nice Rockfish and Trout. LOL. I think we'll do well on the charter since those guys know their stuff.

Thanks!

Thanks! We've been making our lists from Yelp... I'll say this: There is some VERY good food in Alaska! I'm amazed at the fare.

Kenai River Bend Resort is whom I fished with in Soldotna. You will limit out on salmon quickly. They can also arrange for other trips to Homer and Seward for other species and fly outs to remote spots. Alaska is awesome. Enjoy it, like no other place. Been there 3 times, fished twice, caribou hunted the third time. Headed back July 2020 for a remote fly fishing float on the Chosen River...be careful on those highways. A lot of distracted drivers at high speeds...post pics when you return!

We're doing Big River Lakes... flying in, and then getting on a boat.
