Default Charter recommendations in LA area

I will be in LA the beginning of July and was hoping to do some fishing. Can anyone recommend a good charter boat in the area? Looking for a half or 3/4 day trip for 4 people.

Also so what is your favorite species to target in that area.

There are a few options for charters around. We have “sport boats” which take anywhere from 20 to 80 people out. Or private charters. Sport boats have rental gear. The main technique is using live anchovy or sardines, or dropping down cut squid on a dropper loop. Just something to consider if you haven’t fished that style before. Most of the 1/2 day 3/4 day boats target bass, occasional yellowtail (amberjack) if they are in range or barracuda.
In LA I like 22nd street landing. They normally have quite a few boats for different options for 1/2 and 3/4 day. They also have some smaller boats for 2 to 6 people.

Coastal charters probably one of the best private guys for LA. Focuses on bass, sponsored by Shimano.

In the “west coast” forum, I’m guessing Los Angeles. Even Louisiana isn’t considered the west coast of Florida... .

If you can make your way south to San Diego, you might be able to partake in some bluefin action.

Thanks for the suggestions but I booked a trip with old spool charters out of Newport Beach so we’re all set. Can’t wait to fish the pacific for the first time.
