Using his buddy from hs to swap motors at preffered marine.

Just looked at these motors, im an aerospace CNC programmer careeer guy with serious mechanical inclination, legit rebuild my first motor at 12 years old. Also got an secomd opinion from a certified merc mechanic, who td me to RUN when i asked him to verify my thoughts! Heres the deal on these motors. I was interested in the center motor, which he stated was the best condition of the three. When i initially contacted the seller via text he was oddly against testing the motors on the boat. I bought it up multiple times and he was trying to give me the run around. I called him and was point blank up front about not being interested unless i could test the motors on the boat, IN the water. He complied and said some hs about "oh ya thats fine i misunderstood" i made it cery clear im a busy guy and dont habe time to waste and if i camt test motors by running the boat in the water im not interested, lets be real, thats rule #1 when boat buying. So we make a time to meet at the marine place its at.....

This morning i arrive at where he sends me, preffered marine (his buddy hes know since they were kids, owns the place, kody), he puts the motor on a hose, i immediately bring up the fact i stated i wasnt interested unless able to run the motors on the boat in the water, and reminded him i was very adamate about this, and mentioned it multiple times in out recent conversation, he starts bumbling about not having time cause hes going to the keys this weekend, keep in mind ive been contscting him for nearly a week now trying to test them in the water. He state " ive gotta survey stating the motors are good" and shows me the survey, telling me to scroll to the bottom and see the compression. Throughout the whole exchange hes seems nervous akd fumblimg for answers. Seeing red flags everywhere st this point, i start looking deeper, so i read the entire survey. The survey report specifically marks the engines in poor condition! And in the notes has a list of issies. One of them doesnt even run! The surveyor specifically wrote that he wasnt able to wster test the boat because the engines non running and poor condition. I read this out loud to the seller and he states "well those are the port and startboard, look we can start the center motor" and he starts the motor, i immediately hear a loud knocking sound, coming from internally in the power head, he tried to tell me its the plastic cover. I remover cover ajd put my ear closer. This is a classic rod, lifter, or valve knock. At this point i tell his this, his response to me informing him of this was to put his head down, start typing on his phone amd says "ok no problem" ....STEVIE WONDER could have seem from his response that he knew damn well of all these problems and is just trying to throw a attractive price tag on to lure people in and sucker someone into making a huge mistake.
the seller is a 26 year old classic south florida trust fund millenial who is not only trying to screw someone over, but also clearly has no regard for wasting peoples time as well. even showed me text of others willing to drive from multiple states away and waste all that time just to get sh*t motors that cant even operate the boat theyre on!

Side note, i see someone less patient than i am wringing his neck, when he wastes their time like he to me, it took every bit of patirnce for me to walk away, I am f-ing FUMING right now. So pissed off i can barely even type correctly. I just Hope he doesnt catch someome slip up and screw them like hes trying to do.

Side note: If you are going to brag about how smart you are and the vast amount of experience you have to build creditability then at least make sure your spelling and grammar are correct. You do your self a disservice by listing your credentials then misspelling everything and having the grammar of a potato.

Im driving on the turnpike and pissed off. For you to corrolate whats clearly a typo (for example an m where an n should be, take one look at the phone keyboard and youll see theyre right next to each other) with mechanical knowledge shows what an absolute moron you are. For you to be a negative d*ckhead when im trying to prevent someone from being screwed over shows what an unethical pile of sh*t you are. last i check youre not my english professor and this isnt a graded essay.

Feel bad for the shop. Probably had no idea. If it is the name you mentioned.... they are well respected.

So you dismissed somebody's "creditability" when they're pissed off, typing in a rush? What does being mechanically inclined have to do with grammar?

Thank you to the OP for warning others.

/ On another note...calm down OP, we're all busy and go through this crap. Just be happy you didn't purchase the motor.

His friend he states hes known since they were school boys, kody, apparently runs the place. Be pretty far fetched if the shop didnt know. Maybe possible that the selling is trying to use the shop to gain creditability to pass the motors off without them having knowledge. Maybe not. I cant tell. However the survey and the condition of the motors tells all. No way the seller didnt know.

Absolutely shocking that a seller would have his own method for trying to market his used engines. Horse trading 101.

Want to respond to this because half the stuff isn't true.

I did just buy the boat two weeks ago and pick it up this morning. I towed it right to the dealer to get my new motors installed today June 23rd, 2020. I did not know about the sound of the center motor. I found out it was the supercharger after reeseman stormed off by the mechanic. If I knew there was an issue, I wouldn't have called him, rushed him down here to test the motor on the boat before they got pulled off. I did have the survey completed and I showed reeseman while we were standing there. I told him last week I was pulling the boat out tuesday morning to get the new motors put on. Once we hooked up water to the center, fired it up it 100% made a noise. I did not know about it nor would I have made someone drive down an hour and waste there time. When they did the survey the motor did not make that noise. I tried to apolgize multiple times for having his time wasted and offer gas money. I wouldn't of want this done to me as I told him on the phone once he left, but he snapped on the phone and said if it was five years ago he would of "shoved my face in the flywheel"

Again. I 100% did not know about the center issue before him coming down. I did find out it was the supercharger that is going bad. I will fix ad today and update on outside motors. Outside motor does run.. the lever inside bilge was shut off and now fires right up. It is not an internal issue on the center motor. If anyone has any questions or concerns about the motors, happy to answer any questions.

Sorry Reeseman for wasting your time today. If you decide you want to talk, I would be happy to still offer gas money for driving down here or whatever is needed.

You really need to work on your grammar. Also when using parentheses make sure your sentence continues. Your sentence of "Im driving on the turnpike and pissed off. For you to corrolate whats clearly a typo with mechanical knowledge shows what an absolute moron you are." makes no sense once you remove the parentheses.

PRIME example of a buyer thinking he’s god gift to the marine industry. If you’re so smart with so much experience why didn’t you just ask the shop what they think is wrong with the engine instead of being a prick and thinking you know everything. Even if the shop and the seller were friends they wouldn’t risk their business’s reputation over some old engines and a high school friend.

If the seller told you he’s taking the engines off today why did you show up after they were off the boat?

Take the gas money, shake hands and be a man about it. Running to a forum and posting about cuz your “pissed off and can’t type” is what’s wrong with this world.

not at all.....

The OP said he wanted to run the motor while still on the boat and in the water, he also states that was confirmed with the seller yet OP shows up and that's not possible?

Reads like the seller lied from the get go and it went down hill from there, the seller wasted the OP's time with BS and excuses, ain't no one has time for that and they should be called out like the op did, saves others from wasting their time or getting ripped oiff

the engines are still on the boat. Hes just been refusing to water test because he was clearly aware of the issues, same reason hes been gving me run around the past week every time ive asked him to water test. I wemt there under the impression we were taking the boat to the water, i was 100% clear i was not interested unless we were doing that, amd repeated it to the seller multiple times. Hes put it off til now to rush the process, i only found out he had no intention of water testing by riding the boat once i invested the time driving there. Hes Hoping someone will buy in a hurry and not due their due diligence when hurried. Furthermore he is bullshitting you all and thats obvious, hes just trying to save face. When i said the knock was clearly interenal his response was "ok no problem" and looked down into his phone and dismissed me. No problem to him cause hes the one trying to get the bs off, no problem to him becuase he wasted my time, which he doesnt care. There was ZERO apology, ZERO offer to reinburse me for my time, that only came after this post.

That Mercury dealer has more experience with those engines than anyone else I know awesome people too always go out of their way to help.

So you saw the address he gave you and didn’t even look to see where it was? If it came up “Preffered Marine” I would have asked “why are we meeting at an outboard shop and not the boat ramp”. There’s 2 sides of the story here. If he said he would sea trial the boat to show you the engine why did you show up to a mechanics shop in the first place? Doesn’t make sense.

i really doubt the seller agreed to a sea trial then sent you the address to an outboard shop. I would have questioned that before I left.

Maybe I can’t fully understand your post since it seems like you didn’t pass the 5th grade grammar test.

Never heard of having a potential buyer follow you to the ramp to assure theyre a serious buyer before you take the time and effort to do so?
some of you are so screwed up youll go to any lengths to try and reach for an explanation to justify someones wrong doing.
god forbid i try to warn others from wasting their time. A good dead never goes unpunished in the land of internet idiots. Certainly i have zero credibility because i dont use proper grammer on the internet. 🙄
