Default Ricks Reel concern.

Now that you clicked on thinking WTF is that idiot rambling about now.

I needed two reels for our short keys trip to replace the cheap crap I own. I sent Rick a "PM" asking about used reels and gosh did he deliver!

Two really nice shimanos, (spelling ?), that are perfect for my needs and a 1/4 of there retail price. There in awesome condition, one is already spoiled with braid which saves me even more.

Delivery in three days as well. Thank you for your awesome customer service sir, very much appreciated.

Figures that the Rickster would send you "spoiled" braid.

I would like to know what reel oil Rick prefers for bearings and everything else when he puts reels back together.
I am about out of the ABU oil I have used in the past and it seems Academy does not sell it anymore.
They show Pen oil and some called Ardent Reel Butter oil on their web site.
I like the looks of the application tip on the Ardent, but do not know if the oil is good

Shimano reels is kind of a pretty wide scope, Shimano make cheap junk, right up to top quality world class reels.

tell your friend, it was no joke or never intended to be harmful, just stating that out of interests sake, it might be nice to know the gear he purchased, take my post as you will, there was never any intention to throw rocks at anyone, but, if you feel that way, so be it, I can't help that.

I use TSI321, CorrosionX, CorrosionX heavy duty, Amsoil marine grease, Cals light drag grease and Cals regular drag grease....

Needless to say, I have plenty of oil and grease to put back in that old Triumph....

You know what they say, if it's not leaking, it's empty.

That Triumph is just marking it's home territory.

I have been a loyal customer of Rick’s for a few years now; great service, plain and honest answers, and one heck of a bargain. Rick revved up the drag my grandson’s Tekota, and he is now a snapper slayer. Liked it so much that the entire fleet has been upgraded by Rick.

Does that work pretty good? I use a related product, called line-X if I recall correctly. It always seems to gum things up though.

Always one in the group, isn’t there? Re-read the OPs first post, he bought some “really nice Shimanos at 1/4 of retail price”. OP thinks they are nice, and that he got a deal, and that Rick helped him. What is “nice”? Opinion of the owner, but none the less OP seems pleased and bragged on Rick, as I have and will again due to the great service and workmanship I got from him on my Shimanos. Rick may not think you threw rocks, but if your intention was truly just to ask what kind of gear, you don’t use the verbiage “cheap junk”.

Jesus you guys can be paranoid, I was simply suggesting that if he told us what he purchased, it would be interesting (well, that's what I thought) never once said he was sold junk, or used junk, or Rick sold him junk, like all things, text can often be interpreted different ways, if that's the way you see it, then so be it, no skin off my nose, over and out.

I really must have some bad juju hanging around me.

As for my new to me reels. These, "are to me" the smoothest damn things I've ever owned and I'm really happy with them. That and Rick is one standup guy, with THE BEST customer service I've ever had the pleasure of receiving.

I ordered them from Rick because I knew that even if these where shimanos lower grade gear, with Ricks magic they are now infinitly better! I litteraly could not go wrong!

I should be careful here, cos Rick's got 3 of my favorite reels in his shop.

My Dad's buddy used to put a clean cup under his TR-3 when he got home. Next morning he would pour the oil that leaked out back into the engine. This was back in the 70's, and it was his daily driver.
