Default Question about Elect/Hyd brakes and GM trucks

Will the factory brake controller of a 2018 Chevy 3500 automatically recognize Elect/Hyd trailer brakes or does it have to be set? I have read the book but can't find if or how to set it to for either type of brake.
Thanks

Electric brake controllers only work with electrically operated brakes- you adjust the truck setting to the load( weight ) you need to stop.
On a 1-10 scale where 10 is the most- many brake controllers should be set to 1 or 2 for an empty trailer and 7-10 for a heavily loaded trailer

Surge brakes only work by pushing against the truck- the brake controller has nothing to do with it.

It will recognize the electric over hydraulic pump control. My 2018 GMC does.

2015 and later Chevy/GMC trucks recognize EOH vs straight electric automatically, and it works great!

I believe its 2016 and later GMs recognize EOH. I hooked my trailer up to a 2015 GMC 3500 and I had to install a "Ford/GM" adapter for the EOH brakes to operate.

My early production 2015 (Feb 2014 delivery) is compatible with my BrakeRite II EOH system. States right in the owners manual that the truck is designed to recognize the difference automatically.

I think it depends on what type of pump you have. For instance, my 2016 Ram can see a Brakerite ehb but not a Brakerite II.
