I've done it a number of times. The cost depends on what you replace, and where you buy parts. I use Bosch remans, I think last time I paid about $180 a piece. At a bare minimum, you need a fuel rail gasket kit. I prefer to install new injector lines, but if you soak the old ones in CLR or something like that you can usually get them clean (you want them sparkling, no rust). I've used aftermarket and factory lines, the factory fit much better but with some tweaking (aka bending) I've never had an aftermarket line not work. The O-rings and copper washers come with the injectors, 99% of the time the valve cover gasket is serviceable, so I don't buy the injector install kits. You are looking at a minumum of about $1500, and it goes up from there.
Depending on your mechanical ability and number of cerveza breaks, plan on 12 or so hours. I've done it in 8-9, but that's after a bit of practice, and without rushing through things.

Complexity depends what engine you have, the early 2004 Duramax LB7 engine has the injectors under the valve cover, so considerable work is required to access them. The late 2004 model year LLY engine has the injectors external of the valve covers, pretty easy fix, less than an hour, hold down bolt, injector line and electrical connector and pop it out.
ALso if you have the LLY engine research the "ice pick" fix, those injector connectors have known issues for becoming loose and the problem presents itself as a bas injector when it is only the wiring connection to the injector.
