Adding lighting to boat trailer
 
So far I haven't ventured out at night very much but would like to do so at some point in the future.

Have any of you guys added lights to the trailer frame or to the support rails so that you can load the boat up easier on the trailer at night?

I was also thinking about putting some kind of large bright lamp on end end of the back of the trailer angled at the side so it would make it easier to see where the trailer is going when I'm trying to back it up at night. Something like this:

If your fenders stick out if the water at all, just add DOT reflective tape to their tops. Then load the boat. Whatever you do donít shine white lights towards the water when loading. That blinds other boaters and is generally an a-hole move. Also turn off the headlights on your truck at the ramp so you donít blind other people backing down the ramp.

put guide posts on the trailer , easy enough to see where you need to hit that way.
put the trailer lights on those post so you never dunk the lights in salt or fresh water also.

a lot of the trucks have daytime head lights so they make it hard to turn off head lights.
but I agree trying to back into a ramp with head light shining at you from the spot next to you is a pain.
I have felt like getting out and turning them off myself or the truck to give me some relief.
usually just have to wait for them to pull out and away

1-2 clicks on the park break fixed that, and wonít hurt the park brake.

I am guessing you are saying the P brake kills the daytime head lights?
good to know, is that on GMs ?
never had it on the Fords I have had
only gm Vehicle I have ever owned was a 65 Pontiac I took for the money I was owed when a room mate decided to leave the state.

every daytime running light vehicle I have driven kills them with the park brake activated.

I installed reverse lights on my trailer. They are nice to have when launching in the dark. I used relatively dim LED flood lights (about 700 lumens) and pointed them down so they shine directly behind the trailer. That way the lights do not blind others at the ramp.

You need to be cautious so that you don't blind yourself or others. Less is more.

had some ass hole do that tonight when I took my duck boat out for a spin. At this particular ramp I go to, thereís room to launch two boats. This guy not only took 20 tries to back his trailer down straight but when he finally got to the bottom of the ramp he left his damn high beams on blinding me as I was backing down. I had to inch my way down. Really annoying.

Being thoughtless in a stressful situation (20 tries) does not make him an a-hole. Did you by any chance offer to help him? Probably not.

I have pole lights and replaced the light module with ones that had back up lights. I also added to led cluster backup lights low on the trailer frame. It you consider those make sure you get stainless brackets and the lights are rather for submersible use. Neither of these lights are blinding by any means and that is intentional (<1000 lumens) but it helps me backing up in the dark and during the day at least people know that I’m backing up. Just the pole lights are a big help in getting the boat on the trailer in the dark. If I get between the poles, I’m getting on the trailer. You can add all of the other lights but in my opinion it’s just more to go wrong and not likely needed.

no, you are an ass hole in a situation like that. When there are 10 boats waiting for their turn to come to the dock to put their boat in the water and itís getting darker by the second then youíre making it unsafe for others. He should have practiced backing his trailer up in a parking lot. You know what they say about assumptions.....I did in fact help him at the bottom of the ramp so you can kiss my ass

I have back up lights and guide poles. Between the lights in the water and the lights on the truck itís not too bad.

back up lights help tremendously makes it easier to see whatís going on at night.

If i'm pulling the boat with beach buggy got that light bar light on the rear. Trucks backed up to the beach when you get a big fish at night or a shark you use that light .
Dodge has those two work lights just above the camper bar, and I have poll lights on the ocean boat trailer. Those 840W work lights on e bay for 20 dollars will light up the world. Just wire them to you reverse lights off the tail lights your good to go.

I put both stop/tail lights and clearance lights on the top of my stand offs. A red clearance light facing to the side and an amber clearance light facing forward. This gives me excellent visualization of the top of the stand offs when backing.

I know the CZC Auto brand as a reliable company when honing a product. So I’m not wrong when saying that this is the best waterproof LED boat trailer lights. It’s my point of view as it has wide applications. With this pair of lights, it carries out all the functions of trailer lights. It operates as a combination of running and stop lights, license plate light, and turn signal indicator. These things are best applied on a marine boat truck over the 80-inch width of a towing trailer. I’m amused at how bright it is with the LED lights. The visibility coming from them is not disappointing.
