Default Trailer Setup

I don't really have any problems with this trailer. It was set up for the boat by a trailer repair/dealer, and it loads well and has no handling issues, other than I notice it flexes up/down a bit which doesn't really seem to be an issue. However, I noticed today that the front bunks are not very far forward. (I recall the trailer guy told me the front bunks were more to guide the boat.) Stilk, it seems they could be moved forward to the next cross-beam, and would provide a bit more support near the bow. What says the brain trust?

Those front centering bunks are designed to get you square in the middle when you load the boat. They aren’t designed to carry the weight of the boat. If it loads easily and centers itself, I would leave it as it is.

It's difficult to judge from the pictures, but if you lengthen the forward bunks, extending them aft might provide better positioned support. Of course, you could extend them both ways.

Main bunks should carry the weight of the boat and the target(front) bunks should help load the boat. Should be minimal weight on them loaded
