That's definitely a combobulation of technologies. The muffler clamp was probably enough to keep the eye on the ball for a short trip.

This was not his first or second time doing this. If you look closely you can see the wear on the bumper from his hitch contraption. Its really just Modern Redneck Art.

I like the cloth (white, blue checks) surrounding the rope. Don't want to scratch or rub off paint!

I think you are looking at the gun lock's 'armored' cable.
The lock is black with an upside down XD.

Probably would have been quicker to just cut the pintle off and weld on a regular coupler.

This cat doesn't strike me as the sort that owns a welder.

My guess is that drawbar is rusted solid in the receiver so he got "creative".
