Default What's Up With Ram/Dodge Truck Owners Mirrors?

In my hometown of Ocala Florida just in the last couple of months I started noticing everybody with a Dodge / Ram truck has there mirrors opened up for Towing yet not one single person is pulling a trailer it is everything from 2004 till today.

I have read something about this making fun of RAM truck mirrors and I owned one I never folded it out one time pulling a 36 foot by 10 foot boat. I never thought they look funny. My question is why is everybody opening up their mirrors in the tow mode with no trailer is that a new style? Am I missing something?

It makes it easier for the tow truck drives to see them when they are broken down on the side of the road.

I never use my mirrors out for towing. They stick out way too far. However, putting them out does put the spot mirrors in the right place...on the bottom. Having the spots on the outer side of the mirrors was tough to get used to.

I own a 2013 Power Wagon with the tow mirrors... I tow on the weekends, for recreation (toys). If I'm not towing, they're down.

Now, I know plenty of guys with similar trucks with the same mirrors that tow a couple times a week, or daily, for work. Are they flipping the mirrors down when they unhook the trailer at the end of the day to drive home, to the office, to dinner, etc.? No. They're going to leave them until tomorrow or the next time they tow since it doesn't make sense to flip them up and down 10x a week...

Honestly, the guys who bitch about this are the real phonies. Who cares what someone else does with their own vehicle? Is it hindering your ability to drive? Damaging your property? Making your retirement fund dip? No... Stop bitching!

Yep. Saw a similar breakdown of the logo many years ago. Can't see the RAM logo anymore without seeing the female reproductive organs.

he is talking about the young punks that have the giant wheels, tires, and smoke stacks that most likely do not even have a goose or 5th wheel hitch in the bed. they are the ones that will pretty much never hook to a trailer!

I personally like having mirrors that are as wide as my trailer. Whether they are factory, clip on, etc.

Function > form.

This. I have a 2018 Ram 2500. Leave em out the whole time. Easier to see. Just the way it is.

In the two RAMs I owned, the one thing I hated was the mirrors. Coming out of a Super Duty, they were hard to get use to. I left mine up all the time too, kept the blind spot glass in the same place at least. GM’s new mirrors are just about as bad. Ford still has the best ones.

Like I said I had a Ram with those tow mirrors as well. My point was not for people that use them for Towing, it's just that I've noticed in the last couple of months lots of ram guys have them popped up in the tow position for no reason. Seems like a fad or Style.

All of my other trucks are Ford Super Duty's and the best option is the Electric retractable mirrors. I have to retract mine two or three times a day to go through a drive-thru restaurant drive-thru Bank drive-thru pharmacy driving up to my mailbox on the street you name it I am retracting my mirror several times a day flat I cannot even imagine driving around with those giant mirrors sticking out how are you not hitting everything?

I also fold my mirrors in flat every time I park in a parking lot otherwise people can't get past your mirrors to get in their vehicle and you can't get past the mirrors to get past their car.
