Default buying advice/education

First of all,I havent bought a vehicle in 20 years. So I am naive on car dealer tactics.
Found a 2018 truck 2 1/2 hours away that is priced well when compared to other trucks with the same year/package.
Dealer is asking $23k for the truck. And ad says additional charges apply.Taxes etc.
Emailed the dealer for the 'out the door price'. The reply stated that in order to get this price,I would either have to have a trade in-or finance through them.My reply was no trade in.But would put $10,000 down and finance the rest. And my credit score was 730 plus.
Dealer response was a price that had an additional price of $4705 for the extras.
Does this sound right?
thanks in advance- Jeff

Did they provide you with a breakdown of said charges? Looking on the Googles it looks like sales tax on vehicles in Texas is 6.25%. That would be 1400 bucks. What are they hitting you for wit the 3300 in addition to sales tax?

Walk away. If they want to sell it, they’ll sell it for the price advertised. The dealer is full of shit and trying to get you committed. They love folks who fall for this crap.

Need to get a breakdown. I'm looking at a used vehicle as well. Found one about 45 minutes away. Went to look at it, drove around the lot, spotted it, looked at it from my truck but didn't get out. Just couldn't commit to putting up with their bullsh**. Good luck with your search. Shopping for a car is at the very bottom of my list.

Those are the guys that are making me get out of the car business!! Low ball the price, knowing that it's below cost and you know it's cheap too, so when they hit you for more money and bring it back up to the actual market price, people just roll over and buy since they've driven for an hour or two to get there. You could always offer to finance and pay it off immediately. State laws vary, but in Georgia, he has to sell it for the ad price!!

Yeah get a complete breakdown if you are interested. They add on dealer fees, tax, new tag registration, blah blah blah. Once you see what they are charging then ou can negotiate or not.
