Obviously, Im going to buy two new axles and leafs. But, what caused this? Is it safe to take off that tire to get home?

Are you using the picture icon above the text field, or the "attachment" button below? If using the latter, it won't work.

If you look at the back tire, it’s walking out.

What is the other side (the tire) of the same axle doing?

bearings shot is my guess. Could be a loose castle nut but then you'd be right back to my first guess.
I wouldn't tow it anywhere. Parts and help will be difficult to find (and expensive) in mcclellanville.

after looking at the pic a little more- could the dented fender be from something that also struck the rear wheel?
I still wouldn't tow it anywhere.

Agreed. If no other options, get the boat in the water and take it up the ditch, then pull the back tires and run the trailer empty on the good axle.

The buckle in the fender makes me wonder if that side backed into something, or if something nailed that fender and took out your rear axle with it. Either way, recipe for disaster towing another hour with that. Any pics under the trailer and how does the other side look?

As stated above may make the most sense to launch it, pull those rear tire offs, secure the rear axle and run on the front axle. Not sure who your insurer is, our policy with Geico/Tow Boat US includes 100 free miles of tow may be worth it in a situation like this.

You seem pretty convinced then man, good luck on the tow. Thanks for letting us know so we can keep off the roads. Take pics when you get home and pull the wheels off.

Even if you have to backtrack to go get the truck/trailer, I'm running the ICW. Perfect excuse to see some of the most beautiful scenery on earth, and definitely your safest option.

Take rear tire off and see if the hub wobbles. If so it may just need a new hub. If its tight anf spins smooth then you may have a bent axle.

Are the bolts/whatnot tight holding the axle to the trailer frame?
