Default 1998 c1500 tow limit ( crazy mods)

hello, dead uncle left me some money so Im trying to decide to move up or not,

I have a 1998 c1500 with about 35,000 miles. the truck is perfect with just one rip in the seat

I put in a crate 5.7 from a 3500 series ( modified injectors intake and headers / exhaust, re programmed ECU ), 5 speed manual and 3.73 locker rear, ( its 2 wd ) I rebuilt the brakes with all stainless and aftermarket calipers / pads and I put s c2500 springs on it.

I did all this with no intent to tow BUT now I want to drag a 26 CC with twin 150s. it will be right at 6500 lbs. This will be on the east coast around flat land but may want to drag it down to the keys once or twice.
Should I just move up to another truck ?

I would think you will be fine with that set up in FL. That is if the boat trailer combo loaded really only weighs 6500lbs. Do not tow in 5th gear. Use 4th gear and let the engine rev. Make sure you have great trailer brakes.

Yep, don't tow in 5th gear with the manual.

No matter how modded, I still wouldn't exceed the MFR's towing recommendations for liability purposes.

I had an 18' boat I towed with a Z-28. Pulling out with a manual transmission was not ideal. That's your only issue that I can see. You've built the suspension up, so you should be good there. I towed a 25' boat weighing in wet including the trailer right at 9,800 lbs. (on the scale) with a 350 ci C1500 Suburban (not the Z-28). All the Sub needed was helper springs on the rear and it was good to go. When it rusted out, I went with a full on 454 ci K2500 Sub and that was a beast. You're pretty close to that. Have at it.
