Default 2019 F-150 cooled seat issues (or any other brand)?

Looking at trucks (will probably keep this one forever since I hate the whole process) and one feature that I am really liking is the cooled/ventilated seats that everyone has available. In my research I've found that there have been a lot of problems with the ford ones over the years, but I cant find any info on issues with the 2019. I dont know if they're too new for issues to come up yet or if they've been fixed so I wanted to see if anyone here had any input.

Also any advice on navigating the different trims when comparing between brands? Its beyond confusing trying to find a way to compare apple to apples between brands.

Can’t comment on Fords seats but regarding trims between brands if you want ventilated seats you would need to get at least the following trims in each brand to get them. I would consider these all pretty equal as far as
equipment.

Ford F-150 - Lariat
Ram 1500 - Laramie
Chevy Silverado 1500 - LTZ
GMC Sierra 1500 - SLT
Toyota Tundra - Platinum/1794
Not sure on which Titan trims

I have a 2017 Ford and never a problem with them. I have heard that there is a option for a back massage feature that has failed and they do not warranty it.

I have a 2015 F150 Lariat with air conditioned front seats and find the seats too hard for long distance rides.

My wife's expedition has them and they worked great for a few months and never worked right since. I took it back to the dealer twice under warranty and both times the dealer told me they are not air conditioned seats, that they are ventilated and working just fine. However when we first got the truck it would cool you a$$ nicely and now basically nothing at all. Really didnt feel like it was worth fighting over anymore. When they decide to work I enjoy them much more then the heated seats.

My old'13 Platinum Super Duty's cooled seats left a little to be desired. Air flow was minimal at best. Currently driving an 18' Raptor and have to say the cooled seats in it are a night and day difference from the 13' Actually have to turn the fan speed down after a while if the A/C is on max. FWIW I'm pushing 30k in a year and a half and they still work great.

I've had them on two trucks. 2011 F150 and 2015 F250. Never had a problem with them.

Currently own 3 vehicles with ventilated seats and really like them. Dealer told me they pull air into the seat vs. push air out of the seat. Either way, they work great and are worth it.

Thanks for the input. sonickevin95 describes the problem Ive heard about. Dodge and GM describe theirs as ventilated but Ford specifically says cooled and they seem to be having issues with that.

One of my biggest frustrations so far (first time buying from a dealer) is the inability to pick and choose unrelated options. My biggest example is the ventilated seats and the tailgates on the GM trucks. It seems I cant get the seats without the tailgate and the fancy tailgates they have seem like weak points for a truck that gets used regularly. What those have to do with each other I don't know but they seem stuck together

On dodges, they basically have a small fan that sucks air away from you through the perforations in the leather. An easy test is to turn them on and stick a piece of paper on the back rest. The paper will stick to the seat.

I've had a 2010, 2013, 2016 and now a 2019 F-150 with the cooled / ventilated seats. Never had a problem with any of them. Put between 110,000 and 150,000 miles on the older ones.

2013 Platinum with about 90k miles and the seat ventilation works fine, although a bit noisy when on the high setting.
My understanding is the seats work like most brands by drawing cabin air through the seat. There's no active cooling going on by the seat.

This is correct. Most brands had "ventilated seats"..not cooled. GM did have cooled seats using a peltier effect on their trucks up until 2015, and after that, they were redesigned and re-labeled as "ventilated".

I have had three F-150's with cooled seats, a 2011 lariat, 2015 platinum and 2019 platinum. All have worked great with no problems.

My 17 has them. They aren't great. My mom's 04 caddy will freeze your balls off. The ford? Not so much.

My ‘13 King Ranch with cooled seats worked great for the 37,000 miles I had it.

My current ‘17 Platinum’s cooled seats work great at 41,000 miles now. Someone mentioned the massaging seats, mine have worked flawlessly as well.

I’ve been in cars with seats that get colder than either of my F-150’s but my old ‘13’s worked just as well when I sold it as they did the day I got it and the same goes for my current truck.

I haven't had any issue with them. '13, '15 and now '17 F150s. I don't use it often but it's great when I do need it.
