Default Ford Oil Life Monitor

I'm getting conflicting info on the Ford IOLM system. Ford website and manual says you change oil on intervals indicated by the system. Dealership is telling me that's not the case, and to do it on normal 5k mileage.

While I continue to research, thought I'd put a line out to see if anyone has any thoughts?

Dealership is telling you that so they can increase profits. Depending on driving habits the IOLM will show oil life lasting between 7-10k miles.

Dealer is trying to sell you oil changes, I have seen nothing indicating the oil life monitors aren’t accurate

You aren't getting conflicting direction from Ford oil life monitor. You are getting info from Ford engineers and info from a separate business that is trying to make extra money from you.

The IOLM is accurate, follow it.

Also read all the required maintenance recommended. Until you hit 100,000 miles, it's oil changes, tire rotations, air filter changes. Your dealer will recommend a slew of unnecessary things. Ignore them.

Thanks guys, that's what I figured. I had this nagging feeling that maybe I was trying to save a minute amount of money on oil changes and cutting corners on maintenance, although it's really more about the hassle of taking the truck in than the money.

You need to listen to the dealer, his kids need new shoes and braces
