Is it possible to change username without re-registering?

Thanks!

Not really. The only time we generally grant username changes is when someone has put personal info into their name.

The reason we're somewhat strict is that longtime users changing their handles becomes very confusing in threads (i.e. someone addressed you by one name in a reply, then you look and the username is different -- remember that once you change a name it changes it for all previous posts, not just new ones).

Hello Folks,
I too, unwittingly thinking my name was a good idea, would like to change my user name. If you could PM me the details of this I would be greatly appreciative!

Thanks!

I would like to change mine because there is someone else with the same username (uppercase first letter is only difference) and posters confuse us as we are both fairly active. Is this a legitimate reason to consider granting a change?

To reduce, if not eliminate, confusion to readers, I will gladly add a signature line "the poster formerly known as one wolf" if that is seen as useful by admins. Or not, if not. New handle would simply be my last name which is also my boat name. My regional forum friends mostly know who I am anyway which I prefer.

Our usernames are not case sensitive. Their name must be different.

Aha - you are correct:

Still, people are clearly confused by it frequently.
