Hey strangers, haven't been around for awhile. Business has exploded and I've been buried in work this year. No complaints!
I just posted an ad in the commercial sellers forum and wow....the entire first page is almost all taken up by a few sellers. Is this the norm now?

Yes. You need to be selling fishing tackle. All the better if you’re a brick and mortar with a thousand items in your store to post on THT. $150 for this kind of space is a deal.
Start a topic for every style of jig or lure or reel you carry.
Then start a topic for every size of the same jig, lure or reel.
Then you need to package them with a box of some sort.
Then you need to introduce a new color and start all over again. Remember to use plenty of exclamation points on your posts too. That’s like candy to lure buyers apparently.
A few of these items have been “bumped” dozens and dozens of times without one response.
I suggested Sponsors/Vendors be only allowed one post per membership. That got shot down.
At least it would force the serial bumpers and eliminate the forum domination happening in there.
I tried their game for a while listing individual colors and types of materials.... Had to.. Was on page 4 in less than 2 hours a couple times...
Lets hope something changes in there. -snip-
Good luck, and welcome back.

Sponsors are requested to combine like type items into single threads - not one thread for black lures, and another for blue and another for red lures.
Some sponsors are always trying to or purposefully skirting or breaking the rules. Thank you to those who follow the rules.
Moderating the Trading Dock is a thankless and never ending job.
If everyone would follow the published rules, most everyone and their products would get close to equal exposure. Unfortunately all it takes are a few to mess it up for the folks following the rules.

It's a slippery slope especially now that you've been told NO, NO, NO, so who's rules do you play by? The one's making the rules or the ones playing inside the rules???

I count at least a dozen+ individual sponsors on the 1st page of Commercial Sellers page with ad threads - almost all with multiple threads.

Just today:
Big Game ST 30's Diving Minnow Lures.New Pink Color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
New pink color.
Bump rate, new topic rate?
https://www.thehulltruth.com/search....rchid=26441831
Avet reels?
https://www.thehulltruth.com/search....rchid=26441845
When this guy posts, there's seemingly retaliatory responses from a couple of the brick and mortar sellers who are selling tons of items matching, or one upping the item in the post.
MOD 15, respectfully, in my opinion, this requires some added attention from THT.
Waaay back I started a thread about this type of abuse, and a new category war created. Th Commercial seller section was created not too long after that.
Do we need a new category in the Trading dock?
How about some mechanical limits to the abuse? i.e if you're a Sponsor, you get to post one item for your Sponsor membership. In the case of the reel sellers, how about XXX Brand of reel sale. That sale is good for a week, and can't be bumped. After 1 week, you can modify and bump it. So, if you have another item in your store you want to promote, at the one week point, you can change the entire content of your ad. In addition, if the Sponsor wants to sell additional items, they can buy an additional Sponsorship and have 2 items listed.
I'll admit it's less than ideal, but it certainly better than what we have today.
Would you consider posting a poll in the Commercial Classifieds asking for a solution to the continued abuses there?
Thoughts?

I sent a mod a question about this last week and never received a response.
If IB doesnt care about its paying membership then I'll be pulling my membership after 10 years. I realize they dont care.

I have, on several occasions, received warnings from mods that my signature was too big even though it fell within the parameters but something like complete abuse and domination of the forum we are paying to use goes un-addressed is pathetic. It more than frustrating.

The thread has been raised to the Mod team.
Any changes have to be approved by IB.
Criticizing the Mods publicly rarely ends well.
The nominal fee of $150/year for the exposure on THT should be well worth the business investment.

Seriously? Is that an actual threat to a paying member (customer)? The criticism was to "moderation" , or lack thereof, as a whole, not to a mod specifically. Your comment is extremely unprofessional and yes, that is being critical of you. This discussion is business, not personal. Treat it accordingly.

Todays Avet threads:
The lead off post...
https://www.thehulltruth.com/fishing...able-blem.html
Followed shortly by:
Avet Reels - Blems for Sale *** SAVE ***
Followed by:
https://www.thehulltruth.com/fishing...-anywhere.html
Then comes:
Avet EX, EXW, 30, 50, & 80 Blems - A Great Deal!
Bonus points.. Striker Tackle still pitching jigs...
Can we at least get a Fishing Tackle only section and let them fight it out there?
ALL TACKLE is brick and mortar. Can we invite Bass Pro and Cabela's in here too?

And here's ALL TACKLE's retaliatory Avet reel post just a few hours later..
.Avet HX Blems - Save Big on Blems and We Are Making Awesome Avet Deals
2 new posts today from him. Fishing stuff again. 9 in the last two days.
What is the definition of Forum domination?
