Default 2019 NHL Playoffs

It's my favorite time of the year again - who will win it this year? I don't think the Bolts are going to have too many 7-3 games going forward. Can they win the 2-1 games? Here are my first round picks:

Eastern Conference
Tampa Bay vs. Columbus - Bolts in 5; Bobrovsky will only be able to steal one game, as he is true to form in the other 4
Boston vs. Toronto - Bruins in 6; Rask will manage to give up 5 goals in one of the games but Toronto won't be able to keep up
Washington vs. Carolina - Caps in 7; Ultimately this one boils down to experience, and Carolina hasn't played a meaningful game in 10 years
NY Islanders vs. Pittsburgh - Pens in 7; Trotz has built a decent defense, but they still have to manage to score a goal or two to win

Western Conference
Nashville vs. Dallas - Preds in 6; Rinne will outplay Bishop
Winnipeg vs. St. Louis - Blues in 6; STL has been playing some solid hockey since the trade deadline
Calgary vs. Colorado - Flames in 5; Colorado just doesn't have the answer to Calgary's firepower
San Jose vs. Vegas - Golden Knights in 7; Both teams kind of backed their way in - this could go either way

Predators
Blues
Flames
Sharks

Lightning
Bruins
Caps
Penguins

Would love to see the Leaf and Hurricanes get the upsets.
Hedman is back, Callahan and Stralman are close.

I don't see anyone beating the Bolts but, it is the playoffs. Should be fun.

Since the panthers are out I’m pulling for the bolts then Vegas because of the panther connection. I’m stuck at home on short term disability so I can stay up every night and catch the late game too. Going to be some great hockey.

Preds gotta step it up tonight or risk getting down 0-2. Their inconsistency drives me crazy.

They're sinking quick, maybe they peaked out a bit early like the Bruins.

Yeah, certainly not the start I was expecting. So much for being fun.

And now they'll have to do it without Kucherov for a game. Stupid play.

At the start of the playoffs I had predicted the finals would be St. Louis vs. Tampa. Not looking so good now.

I had Tampa over CBJ in 5
Boston over Toronto in 7
Isles over Penguins in 7
Caps over Canes in 5

Out west Nashville over Dallas in 6
St, Louis over Winnipeg in 6
Calgary over Colorado in 5
Vegas over San Jose in 7

Second Rd..
TB over Boston
Wahs over NYI
St. L over Nash
Calgary over VGK

Third Rd
St Louis over Calgary
TB over Wash

Finals
TB over St. Louis

You know I'm not a fan of his but that loss last night is not on him.
He was probably their best player and not one of the 3 allowed was a softie.
But to a point I have made numerous times....even though he played well, yet again he could not "steal one" that they deserved to lose.
And that is a trait all the great ones have had.

I thought the first goal was soft - terrible rebound control.

I agree with this assessment. Not one goal was a softie and he made several very good saves. As I have been saying all along, he is a top third of the league goalie. I have never said he was one of the great ones. But listening to this incessant Tukka bashing (form ironically the same 3 or so people over and over and over and over) is sorta like listening to the rest of the NFL bashing their quarterback because he is not Tom Brady. The rest of the NFL has to learn to win without Tom Brady because they are not getting him. If you can't win with Aaron Rogers, Drew Breese, Russell Wilson etc, the issue lies elsewhere on your team. The Bruins need to win with Tukka because they are not going to get the best goalie in the history of the NHL to come to Boston.

Tukka is good not great. You can't rely on him to steal a series. But he is also not responsible for everything wrong in the world.... well other than the increased measles going around. Clearly he caused that... You need to find a way to win elsewhere.

Hey a bright spot is actually where I thought we were in trouble. The second line played well last night. And DeBrusk was certainly mixing it up the game before. Surprisingly it is the first line that is sleep walking. Is Pasta hurt? He sure played like he was last night. Love those guys.... but time to turn it up. Long series and long road to the end. Where ever that end may be.

Again, you are funny. The shot comes from the far side and is deflected. Tukka stops it with his leg pad. The puck drops to the ice 2 inches from Tukka's butterflied feet and 2 feet in front of Moore. Krug, the guy who was supposed to be covering Moore is on the opposite side of the crease. And Moore taps it home.

Explain to me what Rask was supposed to do with the deflected puck and that rebound. Use his leg pad to flip it up into the air and catch it? Use his super ninja powers to kick it into the corner? On a pad save, the puck drops to the ice every time. It was in the back of the net 1/4 second later. No way he could have smothered it. How was he supposed to control that rebound?

he had terrible rebound control on the shot. He left it right there yo be tapped in.

Heck even casdidy today blamed the first goal on rask.
