Thanks for the kind words. My daughter (right bottom photo) lives in MS so is missing from the top photo. My son Rob has watched that 85 game tape so often he memorized the entire play by play announcing. I am sure that inspired him to become a high school basketball star and now he still coaches in the high school where he works.

I'm a Tarheel, and agree! Hats off to Nova! Tough to stomach, but Damn great championship!

I'm not a basketball fan at all, so I didn't watch the game, but the headlines this morning convinced me to watch the highlights. Basketball bores me to death, but that is how every championship game in sports should go. Obviously well matched teams, and a fight to the end. Awesome.

AND the Carolina fans have already started whining about the "bad officiating" why not whine about your team not being to hit what could have been several game winning shots from 12 inches away when they touched the ball three times? Whole lotta "what ifs' to be found on the court in a game like this one without mentioning the zebras. The fact of the matter is that this game ended like the classic high scoring football game where "the team the has the ball last wins" i am not a Nova fan, so i had forgotten that Jay Wright had lost on three different occasion to the eventual tournament champ in his time at Villanova, twice to North Carolina. Nice to have that monkey off your back. The big question may be if the Villanova program is "big enough" to keep him or if he might wander off to someplace like Louisville if Rick Pitino "retires" or perhaps farther down the road to someplace like Duke? He may be the hottest "prospect' in the NCAA today, but perhaps not the easiest to get. he made $2,4 million this year. Pitino made $7.5 million, Coach K made $7.3 and John Caliper made $6.8 this past season. We know those programs are unique, but when you look at the $4.5 million Arizona paid Sean Miller, then the picture gets a little clearer as to what the market will bear.

It wasn't so clear to me that the tar heels have superior talent as some posters have suggested.

Maybe more "tradition" as a power house over the long haul of many seasons, but nova's guys on the team today seemed to stack up pretty well man to man with their counterparts on the tar heels.

Agree 100% on the Heels supposed superior talent. Yes of course the Heels are always loaded with McDonalds All American players, but this group never showed any consistency shooting the ball except for maybe Berry's shooting or Johnson's high percentage dunks. They rebounded and ran the fast break like pros. Streaky shooting was my concern with them all year long

Some of the media guys were saying that Nova was he first nations champ in a few years that didn't have a clear NBA first round draft pick on their team. But, if goes to show you that having a cohesive team, a good game plan and a hot streak at just the right time can go a long way.
