I see there is no interest in this race.
We always watch it if there is nothing else going on and the winter weather keeps me off the water.
Michael Jordan and Bubba Stewart teaming up.
Massive crash on the back straight with 16 cars in lap 15.
Now a rain delay with lighting nearby.

We are sitting out back on a beautiful Fl night with drinks and cigars ready for a restart. Glad for the delay because we were at the sandbar and would have missed most of it. Why they started with the radar looking like it was and wrecked a chunk of the field I don’t know?

NASCAR used to be good racing. That ship has sailed.

I'm not a big NASCAR fan but I do like watching some of the Daytona 500. Have they turned it into a street race? What was a seeing last night when I turned it on?

Rerun of a race from earlier in the week they showed to take up some of the 6 hour rain delay.

Chase Elliot was second in The Clash and the Daytona 500.
Many more road courses on the schedule this year. I may try to get to The Circuit Of The America's race. Chase rocks the road courses.

There really has been no racing at the Daytona 500 for several years.
The low horsepower / high downforce package they run slows the cars down so much that they can only 'pass' by slowing down the car in front.
Watch the 'highlight' videos, the only thing on them is restarts and crashes.
Top speeds at the big tracks are down about 30mph from the peak in 1987. NASCAR is afraid to go fast

NASCAR has been around since 1948 and has NEVER had a fan fatality at a race that was attributed to NASCAR negligence.
The cars that were flying into the air in 87-88 were so aerodynamically unstable that something surely needed to change.
Fast forward 30+ years and I say they've gone to far.

Kind of like changing the 1/4 mile in NHRA. Don't like it but I understand.
The stages are BS though.
Usually just watch Daytona and Talledega but Bristol in the dirt could be good.

So how does that work for a Bristol dirt race? Feel the cars, the wind, and the clay/dirt. Do I need to don a garbage bag in the stands?

Sounds fun.
