Fields crossed the LOS and it was an open field tackle. He did lower his head but it was a form tackle, not malicious or to the head or neck area.

As a player, you are coached to put your head on the ball with a tackle. Ski did. He can’t help Fields turned in the last second and his ribs were exposed. Perfect form tackle.

BS call.

Clemson almost scored the same amount of points in the second game they played ND but the difference was ND didn’t score close to the same amount of points in game 2. The difference wasn’t Lawrence, it was Ski.

I’ve watched that guy play in the playoffs and NC game for seems like 10 years, he’s a difference maker on the field.

.
OK. I think we can agree there looking at it from your perspective. He is over the line and a legit target for a legal tackle which it does seem to be. I was originally commenting on last nights ejection but with all of the posts flying around maybe I didn't clarify well enough. He is a premo player for sure.

Not only do I think targeting should be allowed, but they should be able to sharpen the snaps on their helmets and wear spiked shoulder pads. And can we please put land mines on the field? I mean this is supposed to be football, not a sewing circle!

As a side note, I always carry a small bucket of dirt that I can put my hand in. That way nobody can ever tell me I've never had my hand in the dirt.

Why should they wear helmets and pads?

After watching last nights game, I finally have hope for my Dolphins! Smith could make any quarterback look like Dan Marino.
Saban is the Coach K of CFB. Maybe better.
The targeting call was legit according the rules but I do hate it. Every player knows the rules and every coach as well. I played and was taught spearing because I was fairly small but quick. Still have neck and back issues. Hopefully nothing beyond that but it does make you think.

The targeting ejections are meant to help keep the players safe, and one could argue today’s players are much stronger and larger than previous Era’s.

Competing & winning championships takes a team approach, for Alabama, it’s “Next Man Up”.

The visors should be outlawed. Is a football game still a football game without eye gouging?

I can't believe I'm writing this but The Gators would have been a better contender than Ohio. OSU playing a National Championship after playing half of this season was a joke, they didn't deserve to be there nor enter the ranking as high as they did, totally BS. Never root for Saban but I'm glad Alabama took care of them.

If OSU is so bad, how did they annihilate Clemson? I was inclined to agree with you in terms of them not earning the spot until I saw them last week.

It just seems Alabama is way beyond everyone this year. And that's probably due to depth.

It's a weird year and deserves an asterisk to begin with.

The question really should be, does anyone think there was a better team out there not in the tournament? It's hard to imagine that anyone out there would have beat them. Most years people say this or that team didn't belong, but was there really a team outside the 4 chosen that's objectively better than the ultimate winner? Getting # 3 or 4 wrong isn't so important.

I do not believe you have a good eye for talent nor competition.

Correct. Bama already beat the final rankings #4 Texas A&M and #7 Georgia teams this past season handily.

does talent trump putting in the work? We don’t let college students skip their first 2 years of class work just because they have the brains to do so. Why should athletics get a pass?

What about practice, cohesiveness, timing. That roster was decimated by covid and at the same time their out o state rivalries let them hang out to dry by not commiting to play due to covid. I get Trevor and them didn't fare well against OSU. Your team didn't just lay an egg they were just out played and your miffed.

Guess this means old Nick Saban is the greatest of all time. Year after year, great teams, a bunch turn pro, then he does it again. I’m not a fan, but he is incredible.

That has nothing to do with it. My hatred for OSU does...mostly OSU fans in SC who are obnoxious AF. But mostly been consistently saying the same thing since before the beginning of the season. Real simple. If your team, or their conference chooses to sit out an abnormal amount of games due to Covid on a preemptive basis vs game by game consideration of the stats strictly between he two teams, as the Big 10 chose to do, they shouldn't be eligible for the CFP. The CFP should have made that clear up front, and stuck to it. Missing specific games was understandable for everyone. Skipping the entire month of september and most of october is inexcusable.

I have never met a group from any other State that likes talking about their State more and how they did it and blah z effin blah. Move back if it was so great, Cleveland is lovely this time of year I am sure. Folks from Joizey etc are nothing in comparison. OSU fans are the worse and almost as delusional as a Fighting Irish fan.
