Default No more Tuukka Rask to kick around

I am on the fence on this one. I was pissed until I found out he had a new born baby in April. But if you are going to opt out, then do it at the beginning. Then again I will certainly take a motivated Jaroslav Halák over an apathetic Tuukka Rask. Admittedly, I am really just trolling for Jersus as Bruin's talk has been boring recently. You got your wish. The Bruins can try to make a run without Tuukka. How far can they go?

I think it's bad. Guy helped get you to game 7 of the finals. What else you want out of him?

He HAD a post season habit of letting in soft goals, but wasn't he best or second best GAA in playoffs last year?

How about actually showing up for game 7.

2 goals 4 shots

I too am on the fence. I get that he has a newborn, but the timing is horrible - two hours before the game he opts out? Why not opt out before the bubble? Also, not the first time he has quit on the team - remember he took a leave in 2018 as well.

overall he is a basket case, a poor big game goalie (if he shows up), and way over valued. Tuukka is Scott Norwood, Jim Kelley, and Tony romo all rolled into one person.

Thankfully, I think we have seen the last of Rask in a bruins uniform.

I think Jim Kelley deserves to be with a better bunch than Norwood and NONO
He did help Buffalo, can I say Buffalo or will the Bison be offended, to 4 straight Super Bowls.

Tukka ? WOW! They say timing is everything. Perhaps he is just a talented athlete with absolutely no brains or concern for others; like his teammates and fans. Horrific Timing !!!!!!!

His baby was born in late April. Why not make the decision then, I don't think anyone would question it.

This far into the playoffs, not to mention 2 hours before a game, is ridiculous.

If only my trolling for fish was as much of a sure thing as trolling for Jersus....hahaha. But at this point I'd have to agree with you. No hard feelings with Dante Hightower. He made his mind up during the period where the NFL said, "Make a choice." He made his choices to protect his new born. OK, I respect that. Tuukka waffled, started, then quit leaving the Bruins high and dry.....again.

It is the same way I manage my team at work. Take whatever time you need. Tell me what's going on. I will go way, way, way out of my way to work with whatever life has thrown at you. But when I need you to show up...Show up! I don't mean win game 7... but show up mentally prepared to play/work.

Mike

It's been a while, but I recall the Bruins were physically dominated that game (that series actually). He didn't have great defensive support.

I'm with you guys that are on the fence.

A) at first I was pi$$ed...........he didn't play well in the bubble and now he wants to take his puck and go home? Good.... f you Tuukka, get lost. How do you do that to your teammates?

B) But then, we don't really know what the situation is on the homefront so let's consider for a moment that it might not be good. Did he agree with B's he'd go to Toronto and try to keep homefront remotely under control while they played? Is one of his little girls having some issues we don't know about? Is mommy overwhelmed and finally said; "either you get your a$$ back here and help or me and the girls and half your money won't be here when you do finally show up"? There are lots of possibilities.

I actually am leaning toward B. The Bruins , at least publicly, seem to be totally behind him, whatever it is that's going on here.

You guys also know from my past B's posts that I've never been a big Rask fan. I tend to side with Jersus. He's a great goalie who's had a great career but he ain't the dude I want in my net for the big game. That hasn't changed but not because of today's issue. Whatever it might be.

Yes but that's not Jersus' point, if I may.
Ken Dryden wins that game even under those conditions.
Tim Thomas in 2011 wins that game even under those conditions.

Sometimes the goalie has to be THE MAN and bail everybody else out. That's what being a truly great hockey goalie is all about.
Tuukka still hasn't done it! Close maybe, but he ain't "IT" yet.

on the fence? F that. Needs to be traded.

If I'm wearing black and gold, no way I'm playing in front of him next season. you want to opt out? cool. do it before you recommit to your team and the bubble and play 5 games.

best goalie in franchise history? woof!

good thing the B's have an outstanding backup. rally around Halak.

The only reason I am on the fence is that I don't know the whole story. Maybe his baby got sick the day he left for Toronto.... or one of his other two girls. Maybe they got sick while he was in the bubble? Maybe his wife said get your butt home or I'm leaving..... I can come up with valid reasons (not excuses) that would justify him leaving. But I don't know and haven't heard them. Maybe it is just none of my business.

But if he is leaving because he feels it is "dull". "exhibition game" and "not in prime shape but just trying to have fun" then it is inexcusable. I am tending to lean towards inexcusable as this is the second time he's done this. Inexcusable reasons are the only reasons in the public eye.

And as I am sure Jersus remembers and others may, I was one of his supporters last year up and including that game 7..... but I will wait to see if more info comes to light.

I agree with Sin Bin....time to rally around a pretty good goalie in Halak. Next man up! Do your job!!

So, is it NBCSN or my Comcast that can't hold the broadcast together for more than 15 seconds at a stretch?
