Default CONGRATULATIONS to LSU

Hell of a team and truly the best team in college football this year with truly the best player.

Still love MY TIGERS. 29-1 over 2 yr span, yea I can live with that. 😂

DB’s for LSU really shut down our receivers all night , probably best defensive backfield I have seen in a long time

CONGRATS LSU TIGERS and LSU FANS. ENJOY MY FRIENDS.

It is easy to play the what if game. I wonder if Clemson had not had that targeting penalty to lose their best defender and if they had not had the offensive pass interference penalty in the 2nd half taking away a touchdown (making Dabo super upset!) if Clemson could have made it a much closer game.

The penalty against Skalski was big, but it was clearly targeting (I don't think you're saying it wasn't). What's nice about Clemson fans is I don't hear them whining about the call the way the OSU fans did when their guy got called for targeting on a very similar play. The offensive pass interference call on the other hand was an absolutely terrible call. But Clemson would still have been down two scores with around 10 minutes to go, and they were not consistently stopping LSU on offense, so I don't think it was a difference maker. LSU left 7 points on the field by taking a knee at the end, they really had Clemson beat by 24 points with that score.

If Clemson had to lose, I'm glad it was LSU and not Alabama -- folks were probably getting tired of those two teams trading the title back and forth.

Geaux Tigers!

100% correct. We might have been a little closer, but changing those things wouldn't have changed the outcome whatsoever. Clemson wasn't beating LSU last night, at least not with our game plan. The refs didn't cause us to have to not have a running game (Etienne got no touches in the 4th qtr).

My whole thought process is IF you get beat by officials calls you were not playing good enough to win .

Targeting, well I am the first to say I DO NOT LIKE THE CALL or at least lessen the penalty Maybe a 15yd penalty but do not eject player unless it is obviously intentional Even the kid at OSU I felt got rail roaded on that call but it is the rules

Shoulda, coulda, woulda are big words. We had our chances to make plays but came up short, can not lay blame on coaches It is the players that make the plays and do not make plays

Everyone stays healthy good chance Clemson will be right back next year but I guess we got to win 14 more in a row again

Great team, very well coached and the best QB I have ever seen in college, and Chase was too much for
a college db with Burrow throwing him open. Wow very pro like performance.

Congrats LSU !! -damn Clemson was a great team, but LSU was one for the ages !!

I disagree with the bolded part. Where was our run game? Eitienne didn't even get a touch in the 4th qtr. Where were the slant passes over the middle? Why no TO after the Higgins Offensive PI call? Lawrence was off last night, but it wasn't all his fault.

Great game. No dog in the fight.

I don't like the way the rule is set on targeting being auto-ejection. I wish it would be 2 personal fouls by one player is an ejection. That said, within the rules, that was the right call and outcome.

On the pass interference, I think that was an either way thing. Both guys were doing some hand fighting, one got caught. That is gonna happen. Would've been fine with a no call, but fine with the outcome.

Is the LSU QB entering the draft? He gonna get stuck in Cincy?

Yes, Burrow is a 5th year senior - 3 years spent mostly bench warming in Ohio and the last 2 years at LSU so he will definitely be in the draft this year and will almost certainly be THE #1 pick. Unbelievable talent, ability and drive.

I got derided earlier in another thread for this comparison but I'm sticking with my post - Burrow is very much like Drew Brees and I'm not the only one who thinks so. Saw an interview yesterday / last night with Coach O who was with the Saints as an assistant coach for a while. He said the same thing - they are very much alike in attitude, mind-set, dedication and ability. It will be interesting to see if Joe can repeat what he did this year in the next level.

Would really like to see the targeting rule shift to a 2 tier penalty. Handle sort of it like face mask calls. Flagrant AND to the head gets you a seat in the locker room. That's legit. Passive/incidental or to somewhere other than the head, make it a 15 yard personal foul. Also think carry over punishment to the next game should be done away with, particularly for the post season.

Disclaimer, not bitching about the call or think it would have make much/any difference, just think the rule is dumb as it is written. They have made adjustments to the rule requiring confirmation of the on field call from the replay booth....so hopefully they can polish it up again sometime soon.

What I found most enjoyable about this game was watching an Urban Meyer reject lead his team to the top spot.

Nick Saban providing halftime commentary was pretty good too.

A call I didn't like that didn't get looked at was the out of bounds by the LSU Running back that put his hand down. That close to out of bounds should have been reviewed no questions. That's a huge should of, could of, would of type scenario.

LSU played a helluva game. Congrats to them on the win.

Clemson’s offensive gameplan made zero sense. ETN was running the ball for 5-6yds at a clip but they didn’t stay with the run. The kept trying to hit the home run ball and TL wasn’t on.

Bad calls all night on both sides. Didn’t really expect anything different from a PAC12 crew, it’s not like they’re use to championship football.

I wondered the same thing and the only thing I could come up with was that Swinney apparently thought that they needed to generate yards and TDs faster than a running attack could do it - therefore passing. LSU did the same thing though. Almost no running plays at all until they were just trying to run out the clock -but when they finally did start letting Clyde run the ball, he was making some serious yards on the ground. Hard to tell if that was just good running and such or because most of the wind was let out of Clemson's sails after the fumble by TL.

I REALLY hate the targeting rule and I'm absolutely sure that stupid rule has changed the outcome of some games over the time it has been active. I understand and agree that something needs to be done but I still hate the rule and the penalty.
