Free willie??? Say it ain't so!

I expected this at the end of this season, not now. This move does make sense as it casts a long and wide net for prospective coaches.

Go Canes!

I dont think it warranted. He walked into a shit show from jimbo.. new coach staff, player have zero since of trust, transitions ,young team = trial and error which may lead to what does not work. It took Bobby from 76-09 to build that legacy and dynasty.

Typical human nature wanting instant gratification however as it has been said: Rome was not built in a day. Just my .02c

Is Tommy even in football these days? I think Terry is at Clemson under Dabo. Why not Terry?

Strongly consider Major Applewhite at Houston for your OC. I wish Manny had hired him in Coral Gables instead of Dan Enos. Applewhite KNOWS the spread!

Willie walked into a shitshow down there, but his problem was he didn't seem to ever have a plan for how to get better.

Hopefully they don't hire someone actually competent like Matt Rhule.

They’d be crazy not to go after Norvell at Memphis.

That would be a smart thing.

I hope they do not do it.

Recruiting rankings are a necessary but not sufficient condition for success. There was and is a lot of behind the scenes stuff down there with the administration that stacked the deck against him. Plus their OL and QB situation was abysmal.

I agree with most of this but those aren't things left behind by the previous coach. There is enough talent there to be more competitive than they have been.

The shitshow was partially on Jimbo and mostly on the admin. Jimbo had checked out his last season down there and the team had a rotten core as a result. That type of thing is hard to overcome quickly. Like many social institutions, rot sets in a lot quicker than it can be excised.

The administration had let FSU fall behind other college football heavyweights like Bama and Clemson in regards to support and facilities.

Lane, while a fantastic playcaller, has shown no evidence of being a good head coach at any of his stops.

I hope they hire him.

That's a damn shame, I was counting he would stay there for a long time. Pretty happy we kick Seminoles butts yesterday.

Really thought they would give him 1 more year but have to admit when you look at the stands I guess they had to cut losses and move on

Next one BETTER work or FSU is screwed for years
