Default Where do you put hook/swivel on reels with no eye?

Been looking at some of the LX Avets and Talica 20 reels, but cant pull the trigger because I'm wondering where you're supposed to clip your swivel or hook onto while running, or between spots. Worried people will just hook onto guides, or reel to swivel as there's no where for them to go? Just imagining my new setups getting banged up quick like this.

Am I missing something???

I learned from a guy on here to tie a zip-tie at base of reel around the rod...use the ones with the built-in screw hole.

Tarpun, mfix, Cobia 217 and 4 others like this.

The talc 20 has the "rings" or lug harness. If I remember correctly, the reels are shipped with the blanks installed, and the lugs are included in with clamp accessories. Great reel by the way.

Not sure about the 20 but I know that blanks and lugs are shipped with the 25 talica

We just run the leader around the reel and hook to the base of the bottom eye. Just make sure everyone knows to hook to the base and not through the eye and it won’t hurt anything. That usually allows the lead to be right under the reel too to prevent bouncing and swinging.

The zip tie sounds like a good idea too

Always figured to keep hooks away from anywhere near the guides with concern of chipping off clear coat. Good to know its probably OK.

Leaning towards two-4 talica 20s paired with come connley rods, but rods TBD

I don't care for the hook to be around the handle. That is where I pick the rod up from the holder. Never had an issue with the above and I don't like getting pricked by hooks.

Might try this guy. Seems to be adding clamps on demand.

Just use a wire tie or crimp a small loop of mono down near the reel.

You can also get the EX clamps from Avet that have an attachment point.

Crimp a short piece of 150# mono around the reel seat bolt. Make it long enough so it doesn’t scratch the anno. That’s how all my Avet’s are with no hook

This also gives you a place to secure a leash.
