I never really got into the whole sea witch thing but I just started using them rigged with mono or single stand and a strip and they're a pain in the ass to reuse from the tangling of the hair. Are other brands just as popular or are the C&H "the ones"? The heavier weighted ones are like $10 bucks so I assume these aren't supposed to be disposable or only used a few trips??

I also carefully comb them if need be as in bigger Wahoo lures we used to use.
FYI, the C&H "Sea Witch" is the original Sea Witch

Joe shutes and the C&H are both about the best witch's out there. The rubber ones are junk IMHO!!!!! The whole idea behind the witch is to flicker of the hair and the light head allowing nautral movement of the bait. The hair makes the witch!!!! in reality you should be retying new hair on a sea witch every year or other year of use to keep them fresh. The fresh water rinse really helps out and the conditioner helps also but as soon as the hair gets wet again it will soften up.

I like the Carolina lure ones if I’m buying them, home made/hand tied ones otherwise. For the $5-7, they are disposable after 2-3 trips.
Sadly, islanders are about the same. You can take the best care you can and they still look like shit after a few trips.
And I swear a new one catches better than one that’s been trolled a hundred miles.
