Default Mutton/grouper popping trip where would you go in December

Interested in popping Mutton snapper/grouper in December without weather issues we face trying to fish Tortugas. Any great travel trips? We're mostly catch and release sportsman.

If you haven't tried it check it out. Nothing like having a mutton or grouper hit top water.

Not certain if your trip time frame would allow it, but if I remember correctly December months are the hot times for top water cubera snapper in Costa Rica. Never been, but have seen and read some awesome reports on it. Apparently they will come up from 80' like a Freightliner and you have to use 20000 spinning gear because they will get you all the way back down and break you off on the bottom. Just typing that makes my heart pound thinking of that drag pulling fight. Forget I mentioned it, I'm going and don't want you on my spot 😁

I'd get up with Capt Yuri of Two Fish Charters or Yankee Capts, they may have something along those lines, definitely specialize in jigging and popping on those trips

Get some poppers that look like ballyhoo. The muttons shower them in the right place at the right time. You're fishing with the right guy!

When he fishes with me, I want him to write a in depth.. tell all story.. good or bad. I actually think it would be fun to fish with NO live or NO cut bait. It'll cut your overall catch but it would be fun to catch the muttons and groupers on fly and/or light tackle.
