How does one know how much line to let out on their diving plugs to reach a certain depth? I’m currently running the DTX minnow in the 200 and 165 sizes. I’m using 50 lb braid to 50 lb mono to a 3 ft section of wire for wahoo and grouper.

Find an area that has the same depth that you would like your plug to run as well as an area a little bit shallower. Troll the plug around in those areas and the vibration pattern and activity of your rod tip will show you whether the Lures running clean or hitting the bottom. When it hits the bottom, you will know where you are at.

We just had this conversation recently, I think the most popular method is letting it bounce the bottom at a certain depth. Others prefer a more scientific approach.
