Sticking to my Bomber CD30's, they don't look as pretty as my Nomads but damn if they don't track straight and deep without any fuss or muss, that and the wahoo, Mahi etc love them.

I'll hang my Nomads on the wall as art.

Oh, and the thing got cut off on the very first bite it had from a wahoo.

Iím officially done with these plugs, they will not swim right on anything but mono or flouro, they get cut off on that rigging style, they need to be tuned like all plugs, theyíre expensive, they appear to be quite fragile and they simply do not get bit as well as or stay in the water as well as a jet head and ballyhoo combo.

Cheers to Nomad for sending me a replacement to try, but I now consider this experiment failed and the case closed.

The CD30s certainly track deep & straight with little fuss! Never got a mahi on one has to be a big one to take that plug out.

I tried running a 165 last weekend at around 8 kts - as usual, it would not track straight unless we slowed down to about 6 kts which is just too slow. I swapped it out for one of my 200s and it ran a little better but kept wanting to track inboard. I have 3 of each - 200s and 165s but I don't think I'll be buying any more. I'm running these on #9 solid wire. I may try mono leader as a last resort and if they get bit off I guess I won't be too upset.
BTW, I did contact Nomad customer support a while back and they responded with questions that implied I didn't know how to rig them or that I was using a damaged lure. They never followed up after I answered their questions and also sent a picture of my rigged lure.

Gaffers like the baby mahi CD30 and they dont care if they are rigged with wire.

I have a few 200s and a few 165s. I cut the split ring off and rigged them with 100lb fluoro (with jinkai chaffe springs) and I haven't had any problems. Maybe I just got a lucky batch.

That's too bad. Went through same process via email and there was a bunch of back and forth but they made right. Maybe give them a call ask what happened to your case?

Default Donít do it

The Nomad DTX successfully conquered social media marketing. Iíve never hated a lure so much. It will not run straight, it will not HST at the specs they say it will. Iíve got the gen 2 ya da ya da, Iíve even tried 50lb floro Uni knot to split ring and it still will pop and spin. I own 4 dtx 200ís, I bought 2 when gen 2 first came out and then 2 more when I assumed my first 2 were gen 1s. Donít do it! I do really like madscad and riptide lures but the DTX is trash. Go bomber or rapala.

Sorry to hear about your experience with the DTX East Coasted. I have a number of Nomad Dtx minnows in size 200, 165 and 140. I originally purchased them to target wahoo and generally pull one of the 200's off the transom about 30 yards back when trolling 6-9mph for wahoo and or mahi with a meat spread with ilanders over ballyhoo or other chuggers and sea witches over ballyhoo. I have caught some of everything on them with the exception of wahoo. I have had hits that were likely wahoo on them but not landed one yet. I normally get wahoo on the ilanders with ballyhoo when there is a nomad on the transom. I have pulled the 200 as fast as 12mph but that speed isn't as effective for other high speed lures. If I am pulling a nomad it is generally going to be in the range of 4-9mph. If I want to go faster for true HST, I am pulling other things like cowbells, zeppelin HST's, black barts, jags, wahoo wreckers, super smokers etc,. I think lipped diving plugs are better pulled in the speeds you would normally pull meat. I have not had any issue with mine blowing out of not tracking. on the forum there a mixed responses. some are happy with them and others are not. I have caught big king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, barracudas, bonitas and other things on the nomads. They work for me and others and some just have no luck with them. I am still waiting to land a wahoo on one. The next time I get my limit of wahoo early in the day, I may just pull everything in and put out three nomads spread out and see what happens. You may want to reach out to nomad for replacements. I know people that have success with wahoo on them. Good luck and thanks for sharing. Can you share your experience with the madscad? What have you caught with it? How do you have it rigged? and have you trolled it etc? I have been looking for some feedback on the madscad.

The Nomad's DTX unfortunately just seem to have to much inconsistent manufacturing even in the Gen 2's especially for the price, which is disappointing. Haven't tried the Madscad yet but it just looks like a lazy copy of the Sebile Stick shad that I have a bunch of already.....

I agree lots of inconsistency and they are very pricey compared to others like the rapala's or bombers. They are coming out with an updated version of the DTX 200 that is supposed to be bigger and stronger built that some sites have posted to order in advance for about 49 bucks. Hopefully they will be more consistent then what they have put out so far.

I have been running them (DTX200) hoping for a wahoo but the only thing that has hit it is bluefish. From what I have seen so far I think they look nice but suck lol much better options out there

Yup. The DTX220-LRS which is an inch longer than the 200 with a better thru wire structure.. Tackle Direct has it for pre-order for $49.00. That's a ton of money for a lipped diving lure when most are well under $30. I'd be very surprised if they have many takers at that price point.

I've been pulling a 200 in purple mixed in my regular spread. I have it rigged to 150lb flouro. I know I'm chancing having it bit off. It has been getting hit alot and it is beat up with teeth marks but no hook ups. I changed out rear hook to a treble. Caught a barracuda maybe 30 inches and a 27 inch Mahi on it today. Both only had treble hook.

I finally caught a Wahoo on the 165 size. 200 I tried yesterday blows out at 6/7 knots.

congrats. Glad to hear you finally got one on the nomad. Iíve lots of other fish on the nomad but still no wahoo on them. What color nomad were you using and where do you fish ?

It was a white/clear type color. The 200 seems messed up though and I didn't put the 165 back out after the wahoo so I don't know if it's tracking correctly now.

I actually had another hit on it that didn't stay hooked up. But if it was the 200 I'd say for sure it just snagged it by accident

Thanks for the input. I've had a number of hits on the purple and hot pink mackerel trolling in a meat spread around 6-8 mph, but none that have hooked up. With double hooked ballyhoo rigs with ilanders, it seems a hit always puts a hoo on the deck but not the case with nomads. Lately I have become more of a HST guy for wahoo where it seems at 15-18mph with zeppelins or cowbells hits usually stay hooked.
