Are they ever coming out with the Avet TRX 130??

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows if Avet is still coming out with the TRX 130 reel this spring??

They did a few prototypes of them last year and the word was that they were coming out with the 130 this spring.

I got 2 of the TRX 80 wides.....which are a beast of a reel, but ive been holding out to hopefully buy 2 of the Avet 130 reels when they come out to complete my 4 rod spread for bluefin tuna fishing.

Ive emailed Avet a few times, but havent got any response. Im hoping maybe someone here has some "inside information" hopefully.

Ah yes, the only reel that will hold 1000 yards of 400lb hollow core braid. With a max drag of over 150lb you can be sure that you will stop anything in the sea.

I couldn't imagine needing anything more then the trx80 those are some beast reels there.

Almost got spooled on the trx 80 on a Massachusetts bluefin hookup.... and we were off the anchor in less than 30 seconds...so that was not the issue. Not saying a 130 would have "solved" this problem. I could go buy the Penn 130 reel like everyone else, but I have all Avets and wanted to stay with Avets. Most guys I know that fish in "our" waters have a few 80 wides and a few 130's...so I don't think im being Johnny overkill here.

So, back to the topic....anybody know if Avet is still coming out with the 130?? ....or the "winch", or the "anchor" or whatever you want to call it?

Same reel as 80trx with 130 spool size and capacity definitely has its place.

Thank you, I agree. Theres some biggins out in the newburyport waters that could even put a hurtin on the 130 reel.

Sounds like it was either a megladon or a submarine.

I still tear up seeing that. Thanks for not telling everyone I cried that day 😁

I have found a phone call to Avet works much better than email. Talk to Harry or Sarkis. Or, there is a factory guy in the Avet section of Bloodydecks who might answer.

I agree with you many people fail to realize the positive attributes of the larger spool diameter when you go from an 80-130. Much quicker retrieve and when you hook a "Screama" you want that capacity.

I get that reels out of the box today can all handle drag settings we only dreamed about 20 years ago and that a 16 can pull what a 50 used to. But if your going to use a chair or rod holder I'd much rather have a 130 over an 80W, stand up give me the 80W.

Ability to dissipate heat and rate of line recovery makes a 130 platform shine every time.

Honestly I don't see the point of 80s nowadays, 130s and/or 50Ws are where it's at, depending on usage. Anything an 80 will do a 130 will do better or a 50W will do just as well in a lighter configuration.

An 80 has double the line capacity as a 50, invaluable when hooked up to a fatty.

But a 130 does the job even better. It's not like you are standup fishing with either one.

I've been considering switching from 80s to 130s and looking at the TRX130. While trying to learn about Avet reliability, the only issues I've read that concern me are with the clickers. Most describe the clickers being too quiet but one related repeated clicker pin replacement. Has anyone experienced clicker malfunction in a TRX? Anything serious that caused reel failure (lock-up)? Does anyone know if the clicker has been redesigned for the 130?
Thanks
