Default First Sword (North East)!!

Got out with 2 buddies this weekend and nabbed the first Sword on my boat. Pretty stoked about catching one, so much more that it weighed in at 259lbs! Fished all day but the slogan of the day was it just takes one bite!

Beautiful Sword. There us nothing in the ocean I want to catch more and more.

Next time you catch one, take out the eye, and inside is a perfectly clear marble like thing. This is their lens that gathers light at 2000'. Look through it at the horizon and the image will be flipped 180 degrees.

Very nice...we always put a line down for swords at night...and have never even come close to a fish that size.
Beautiful!

Great work Capt/Crew.

Those should clear up to a perfect round clear "marble".

Next time I get a good sword, I'm going to preserve them somehow.

You're right, but friend wanted a quick photo and we wanted to get back to getting another sword

And for those who are curious. They are NOT gross or gooey. They are kind of like a softer "superball" (old school toy)

Taste? Simply like bland wax. Uneventful vs folks saying it's some disgusting challenge. Just sayin'.

AND CONGRATS JAY. AWESOME!

Great fish!. That's my latest addition to the ever growing bucket list. I just ordered a deep drop setup for the NE canyons for next season. It's going to be a long winter thinking about it.
