Default yellowfin tuna

hey guys,

im going to the keys at the end of may... i ve fished there alot over the years..but have never really tryed to catch any tuna..i really would like to catch some this year.. i ll be in the marathon/big pine area...i ve heard the marathon hump is a good place...

any sugg./ tips would be greatly appericated.... thanks in advance.....

not much yft in that area. I have heard of a yft bite off Key West. Around the humps etc is a great blackfin bite on live bait. Light tackle and its a blast.

You could head down to Venice,Louisiana for all the yellowfin tuna you want in the 50-150lb range.It all depends on the range of your boat.

Not much YFT in the keys is correct. You will catch Blackfin off of the humps though. I have caught YFT on the east side of the gulf N/W of Great Isaac. Good Luck.

If you're going to shoot for BF on the humps, go early in the morning. Get there at sun up and troll with your lines waaaaaaay back. When you think they are far enough.....drop further.

Once you get six, seven boats driving on them, they dive. Try not to run over the school if you see them. Make turns around them and get your lures close, they'll hit.
