Been using kastking braid for the last 2 years with no real problems the 20, 30 & 40# seem to wear well and at least equal to power pro and suffix. All the 50# line and below are a 4 thread braid while 65# and up are 8 thread. At 50# the threads are of course bigger and more visible, but so far no issues.

Alan Hawk who does some great reel reviews on his website doesn't rate the kastking braid very highly. However, when I asked him about his reasoning I didn't get any specific concerns from him. He thought there were better options out there.

You're right, for the price kastking is a good way to go. As much braid as I go through I'm not sure I want to pay 2x or 3x more for "better" braid. It's worth a try.

Default Kastking

Works great and has a break strength as advertised.

I've been trying it on some of my outfits for about 6 months and so far I like it. zero troubles with lots of fish caught.

I've used both their regular braid and their Fortis braid. I have been happy with both. The Fortis reminds me a bit more of the line I was using before (which is twice the price), but both hold up well and have never failed me. I hear they have a 9-strand braid either out now, or it's coming out soon or something. I'd be interested to try that one, too.

I used it in a 40lb strength, cheap but a lot thicker then premium brand braid. I got the blue and color ran like crazy and stained my fingers, the color faded super quick. It held up well when I used it and I never had a failure.

I won't buy it again. I prefer the feel of Spiderwire Stealth and on my other reels I have Momoi diamond braid and power pro. I'd rather pay the extra.

I guess some of it is personal preference. I use the green braid or the yellow and the color does come off a bit, but I've never noticed any line weakness or anything because of it. As you said, it holds up well. And I usually use a black marker on my line anyway, up six feet or so, to make it less visible. So, for me, I guess the color fading isn't a deal breaker. But everyone has their favorite lines that they just feel most comfortable with.

Recently bought a 1000 m spool of 80# to try after a friend who has been using recommended.

Agreed. Couldn't resist the deal either, but be prepared for your hands (and more importantly, your deck) to look like a smurf explosion. If you have good nonskid wax down and don't mind rinsing decks occasionally, not a big deal, but that's the trade off vs. a powerpro, or other equivalent. I still have some loaded on rods, but will probably just buy the powerpro for this reason next time.
