Default Trevala Rod and Daiwa Saltist combo

Hi guys.

Thinking of getting the Trevala TVC-66MH and match it to a Daiwa Saltist STT50H. I will be using them mostly for bottom jigging and throwing metals/live bait at Albies under 30lbs.

Do you think this combo will work?

Thanks in advance.

works great, but I have the saltist 30. I think it is plenty of reel. The 50 might be a bit to wide and big to jig well, but it is a hell of a bottom fishing reel. I have mine on a trevala rod, but I can't remember which one. I think it is the 6' conventional model. That might be the one you are talking about.

If you want to jig and use it to bottom fish, I would go for the saltist 30 or 40. I've seen people horse up some big fish on the 30. I think unless you are targeting some big honking grouper, then you could totally get by with the 40. If you are only going to jig with it, think about the 30, and definitely get the high speed.

If you think the high speed doesn't give enough torque, you've never fished with the saltist. It is a great reel for the money.

I've seen the TVC-66M in a local store. Seems very well made. Extremely thin and light. Can't believe that it's rated for 80lb line.

The handles/grips on these rods are very unique. They just seem right under your arm pit

They are extemely light and balanced. You just have to get one on your hand on one to see what I mean.

Charkbait recommends a rod from Calstar. But I don't remember the model. They would be happy to tell you. It was near $200.
