Default Penn power stick w/ wire line

Is the Penn Power Stick appropriate for a wire set up? I'm worried the wire will rip through the guides. Let me know if anyone has had wire experience with these rods.

I don't know. Ask if they have Carballoy guides. If they do, then you are all set. If not, then don't use them for wire....

I have a Penn Power Stick to which I just added a Penn 49 with wire. I believe the eye are chrome alloy. Planning on using this weekend for stripers. I'll let you know if I ruin my rod.

If it isn't made for wireline, it will take more than a weekend to ruin it....but it will get ruined.....

As said, if it is not made for wire line, don't use wire line. The power pro rods do not have the hardened guides so use braid instead. Braid and a few ounces of lead will work as good as wire.
