The other day I was at my local pond at around dusk while the bass were charging bugs on top of the water. All the fish in this pond seem to prefer small baits and at the time I had nothing for topwater that was small enough.
Today I picked up the smallest buzzbait I could find at BassPro shop which wasn't as small as I was looking for. It was 1/8oz and I would like to go as small as 1/16oz.
I got home and am on the net looking for other alternatives and was looking at floating flies for flyfishing?
Has anyone used these floating jigs for panfish and bass with a light spinning reel?

Try a "casting bubble" and use regular dry flies. Sometimes the fish will become confused and hit the bubble, but enough will hit the fly to make it worthwhile. Small (1/16 oz.) hard baits are difficult to come by, but they are out there, and just because their small doesn't mean their cheap. The smaller sized lures suitable for ultra light are the same price as the full sized models........

I sometimes use a short lenth of fly line in between my line and leader to cast flies on spinning gear.It gives you some casting wieght, and makes a great strike indicator if you use floating line. You can use whatever lenth you need to get the wieght needed for your cast and it provides a very stealthy presentation.

rainbowplastics.com - my brother just tried these out and he says they cast flies on spinning tackle really well. he got a couple of brown trout last week with them. the torpedo float can cast a really light fly very far. i cant wait to try one with a clouser or deceiver when the blues enter jamaica bay. any week now.
