I saw this knot on the website and was wondering if this is the best knot to use to tie 60-80lb mono to a heavy 165lb offshore swivel.

If not the best way, what is the best way?
Thanks,

Tireless: sorry for the confusion. The swivels are 165lb. The mono that I will be tying to the swivel is 60-80lb.
Greg: I was told that you lose a lot of line strength with the clinch knot. That is why I have been searching for a better knot that will not lose so much line strength.
Thanks,
Kg

I have always used that or the gouper knot....which is basically a commercial double slip knot. Never a problem but I am also catching bottom fish that are well below half the rated line strength....

I'm not sure I understand your question, but assuming I do, I always use a double line (created with either a Spider Hitch or Bimini) and then use a bear claw or offshore knot or whatever it's called to join the double live to the swivel. That way, even if one of the legs of the double line breaks, you still might get the fish in.

Most of the time I use the clinch knot to a leader connection. Never had any problems and all of my 60, 80, 100, and 150 leaders get the same treatment.
If I use a doubled mainline, like formed by a spider hitch or bimini twist, I use a palomar to tie on the heavy swivel.
It seems to me that I have had more uni-knot failures than clinch failures and that is why I typically use the clinch.

Not sure what it's called but most of the mates here in Destin use a knot where they make 3 loops around their index finger and thumb and pass tag end thru and tighten. then slide down to swivel. never had one fail up to and over 100lb. leader

This is a local knot called a "Darby knot". It is used for tying main line (usually 80 - 130lb) to larger swivels........used by all boats here in Bermuda for trolling.

Friend of mine and I sat down one night and broke a bunch of common knots. over and over.(50 + 80 mono)The simplest seemed to be the strongest . Clinch not- three times around and through. more turns seemed to fail sooner. been using it almost exclusivly ever since.(over 20 years ago)
