Default Who makes BPS or Cabela's Reels?

Just looking through some of the new catalogs and was wondering who builds the reels for either Bass Pro Shops / Outdoor World and Cabela's? Are they designed and built just for the retailers or are they generic brands of typical manufacturers?

Anybody have any inside info?

If you look closely at all the Cabela's reels you will see that they are Daiwa, Okuma and Pflueger models with different paint and Cabela's logos. I purchased a Cabela's reel about four years ago and it had an Okuma logo on the bottom of the box. One of their spinning reels even uses the same hardbodyz name as the Daiwa Advantage reel. Check out Cabela's 2006 Special Limited Edition catalog (really thick). You'll see what I mean.

Cabela's Prodigy (spinning)= Team Daiwa Advantage
Cabela's Prestige (spinning) = Pflueger Medalist
Cabela's Salt Striker (spinning) = Okuma Epixor

It's very similar to the Pontiac Vibe and the Toyota Matrix in the car market. Both are the same car manufactured by Toyota but they have different brand name logos.

Not sure about Bass Pro but I would bet that they do the same thing. Cabela's reels are very nice for the money.
