Default Daiwa SLT 30 2 Speed

I bought this Reel 15 Years ago and it's great, now it's time to take it apart and Alantani it.

I followed his instructions on 2 Penn 50s I have and there better than new.

Any tips on taking the SLT30 apart and servicing it.

you know, i've never had one completely open.

the large daiwa lever drag reels have never been that popular out on the west coast. wow, 15 years? i didn't even know that this reel had been out for this long. a bunch of us were working on reels during some down time on my last long range trip. one guy had a gold daiwa two speed. he got half way into it, got turned around a little, but found his way out and got it back together just fine. other then greasing the screw holes, it already had a greased carbon fiber drag washer and the bearings had already been cleaned out. these things freespool like crazy, straight out of the box.

the only other daiwa lever drag i've worked on was the black aluminum two speed sld 20. that reel had screws in the spool cap that had seized up. i snapped one off, put it back together, and had the owner ship it off to daiwa for warranty repair. i never got a follow up and i think he just dumped it.

i can check around and see if anyone locally has one that they want to volunteer for a photo shoot, but they're just not that popular out here. btw, is this close to what your reel looks like?

Hi
I'm from Ca have been in FL 6 years, I bought the reel at Minerva's in Cabo San Lucas MX. Some big boat owner traded in a load of Rods & Reels for newer bigger & better?.

Iv' e caught a lot of Big fish with it and never had a problem with it I just feel it's time to go thru it.

Again redoing my 2 Penn 50's was a pc of cake, Thank you

Thats my Reel picture perfect.

You're reel is not the same as the ones out today. Lots of design changes inside. Same name, much different reels. I doubt you'll find many experts on that reel, not too many were sold. Do you still have the diagrams for it?
