Default Anyone use reel or rod covers?

Are they worth it? Have some new rod and reels and was debating over getting these new covers. They look nice but was wondering if they actually serve a purpose.

I use both rod and reel covers. They save bumps and bruises and they cost so little that it seems a no brainer to me.

I am with dsteve. They are great for preventing "boat rash" on those shiny, expensive reels. BUT. And there always is a BUT. Do not store your reels in them. Reels are often still damp internally after cleaning & may take several days to dry off depending on where you are. Back the drag right off & keep in a well ventilated storage area away from direct sunlight.
I have some 25 year old reels & they work as well as they did on day one.
Regards,
Peter

Crown bags do work well, I use a few custom Loomis rods and have a couple of really nice reels. One Vann spinner and a vann fly reel..Even My 965 and old model 975 reels are covered. If you ever have to sell them a reel that is not beat up with boat rash and or truck rash do fetch a pretty penny..Good luck

I use the blue neoprene Shimano covers that every tackle shop seems to sell. For rod covers I bought some fabric and spent a few hours with my wifes sewing machine and made a dozen rod socks.
