Default Atlantis / Paradise Island

Heading down on Wednesday night for the week.
Would like to get out fishing at least once, maybe twice.
Any good charter recommendations???
(I'd like to avoid being another horror story, as my 6 yr. old son will be with me!)

I've chartered with Phillip Pinder on the Born Free 3 times over the years...

Last time was over 6 years ago.... don't know if he's still there?

Had a big (approx 40') sportfish kept at the dock just under the bridge.

Really good guy, always put us on fish.

We went on the Born Free 4, I think it was. Nice cap and mate, lousy fishing (last October).

As almost always go with the more expensive trip. We did a 1/2 day trip last year, on one of the cheaper trips just to get out, felt lucky to get back without swimming.

I went out last year on the HUNTER. Nice guys but never once got the boat on plane. 7 knots out and back, 1 lousy barracuda for the $700 and I sunburn. I know gas is $$$ but Jesus Christ. That would be my equiv. of idling around NY harbor for 5 hrs and throwing in an umbrella rig with 20 min to go to pick a bluefish. Lame

We had the same experience a few years ago. I unfortunately do not remember the name of the boat.

So what your saying is I may be more productive sitting on the beach snapping photos for the SANDBAR....
Sound's good to me...I can get my fix in a few weeks when the Striper bite picks up off the Cape!

There are lots of charter boats "under the bridge". Go take a look and then charter one. As for not putting the boat up on plane; you don't need to. 100' outside the harbor entrance the water drops to a 1000 feet. Just put the riggers down and start trolling. The last time I took a charter, a couple of years ago, the captain let me run the boat most of the day. I think it was an old 37-40 foot Hatteras. I picked a boat with gold penns. Than I told the captaun to make sure he brought plenty of ballyhoo. Lots of those guys just like to drag plastic as it is cheap and easy. I used to go to Atlantis once or twice a year. My favorite past time is sitting on the beach, by ten AM and calling for my "nurse". The pina colada man. The same guy has been working that beach for 20 years. He has seen it all. He says at least 20 times a year a white chick tries to take him away from all of this. He strings them along for the week and then does not show up for the plane ride to the USA. "What leave paradise even if I just the pina colada man". Also don't buy any of those cuba cigars from the beach guys. Lionel says they are all fakes. Even in paradice you can't buy a $25 dollar cuban cigar for $10 bucks. Have fun.
