Grouper is closed seaward of 20 fathoms through March 31st. You would be much better off booking for first week of April if you can.

Im sure somebody can get you on some 20 inch worm bags and some fatty mangos in less than 120 ft, Im just saying it's not ideal if you are paying for a real offshore charter. Those arent cheap due to the gas involved. If you are already 35 miles out, may as well make it 50.....just sayin

If nobody else gives you a closer suggestion, you can go to Hubbards marina (hour north) and fish with Fintastic Charters. Its who I recommend to anyone fishing that area. Great guy and knows fishing.

What GAS said. But if you insist, you'll need to get to at least around 85 ft (~25 mi) to have a chance at the fish right now off Sarasota. But I'm sure you'll find a capt who says he can find them in 30ft.
