Default Flat Fall Jig Info

First off, we want to thank all the THT members who have purchased the new flat fall jigs thru Striker Tackle. This is Striker Tackle's 2nd year offering offshore lures at affordable cost without sacrificing durability. We have grown from offering single set of vertical jigs to offering multiple lures and have already made the move on new jigs by request of our customers.
Concerning the flat fall jigs; we have had multiple reports of fisherman landing AJ'S, Red Snapper, and BFT this past weekend and are confident that the reports will continue but we have noticed a bit of confusion on rigging/fishing the new jigs as well as multiple threads on various websites with all sorts of crazy ways to rig these jigs.

These jigs were designed to stay in the strike zone longer while still producing great action that you expect in a vertical speed jig. As we all are finding out, the best part is the jig does most of the work instead of the fisherman. Below are links to videos illustrating the technique to fishing these jigs. Most importantly is rigging; no matter if you make a short leader out of mono/flourcarbon with crimps or tie your line directly, the line should be tied to the jigs main wire at the top of the jig.We have included picture of where to tie your line on the jig.

Last thing, by request of multiple customers and charter captains, we have 250 gram flat fall jigs on the way. These jigs will have 7/0 black nickel coated hooks, 300 lb main line and 300 lb split/solid rings. We have designed a new hot pink color that will catch fish guaranteed. Also, by request the new jigs will all have glow in the undersides added.

I encourage everyone to watch these two youtube videos on Flat Fall Jigs. They are very informative.

Any questions, comments or concerns!! Please let us know.

Not being a jerk, but you have been saying the heavier ones are on order for quite a while. Do you have an estimated time. I have been patiently waiting to purchase some, but the weather is starting break and I can't wait much longer. I will just have to get some somewhere else.

Are these real Shimano flat fall jigs you are selling or knock-offs?

You are right about the order time. We re-designed our order to include a Pink jig and to have all of the bottom side of the jigs painted glow in the dark. We made this change due to the request of customers and charter captains. This change pushed everything back, but I think these new jigs will be worth the wait. We should have them around April 1st.

Look like great stuff at a heavily discounted price from the shimano stuff...one piece of advice as this forum is big on transparency...I wouldn't use shimano videos to
advertise your product unless you're fully disclosing that they're similar etc etc

Thanks for the advice . These are not shimano jigs. The videos were posted for educational purposes only.

All of the Shimano jigs are chrome on the underside except for one which is gold. Striker Tackle jigs will all have a glow in the dark underside. The top side colors are pretty damn near identical to the Shimanos except the purple/black phantom squid color of the Shimanos will be replaced by the requested pink color in the Striker Tackle line up. The shape and action are identical. I used them both and there is no difference other than the $10 to $15 per jig cost of the Shimanos over the Strikers. I am not a Striker Tackle employee or spokesperson, I'm just someone who knows the answer to THAT question.

Nasty Wendy is correct, we are adding complete glow in dark sides on all of the jigs that are scheduled to arrive in 3 weeks. We have also developed a new color; hot pink/silver that will be a fish catching SOB.

The other difference in our jigs is the hardware. Are last sets that have sold out, had stronger hardware: 200lb assist line and split rings. By request of charter captains we are working with to improve our baits the next sets will now have 300 lb assist line and solid and split rings. We also increased the size of the hooks; the 150 gram jigs will now have 6/0 and the 250 gram will have 7/0 black nickel coated hooks.

This also goes for our new 200 gram butterfly jigs that are due at the same time. All hardware has been increased to 300 lb capacity.

I use doubled 700 lb kevlar and the darn barracuda and other toothy guys go through that pretty quick. So I think you might want to go heavier than 300 lb in the future.
