shark chum and cows blood

i have lots of fresh ground mackerel, someone gave me 5 gallons of fresh cows blood, will this help at all or is it just a waste of time?

That's a good start. Go by your local supermarket butcher and ask them to hold on to the meat shavings from their saws. It is great chum.

If you have something like a hospital "IV dripper," then blood is a great attractant for sharks. Just don't use it if you are in a tournament, as blood is prohibited as an attractant by most tournaments

Or use Mahi blood. Last month at the keys I quickly had big sharks around boat after one or two of them bled the floor and ran out through the scuppers.

Fish blood is ok for most tournaments, just no mammal blood

I'd keep it on the down low....pretty sure it's not just a tournament rule but actually illegal. Not SURE, but I think so.

Cow blood coagulates in a day or so and turns more into jello then blood. Works in a chumchurn or some other type of device that can break it back apart. Not as good as fish blood or fresh blood.

beef blood is a popular catfish bait, very much legal
