Default Florida bottom fishing vacation location.

Just got back from 2 days of bottom fishing for snapper and grouper off Port Canaveral. Had a great trip with lots of opportunity at very nice red snapper as the season was open. Would love to do the same type trip next year but was wondering if I am missing better locations. Looking for a location to do 2-3 days of full day charters during the open snapper season. We ran out 20-30 miles everyday. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

There are some extreme trips out of St. Pete. They run about 100 to 120 miles out. They are not cheep but you will more than likely catch the fish of a lifetime. Not sure if Tommy Butler is still running them but If he is, you need to book it this year.

Destin or Panama City will get you in prime snapper country.

my .02... that part of the state, the space coast ( ft pierce north to daytona ) probably has the biggest size and bang for the buck...not too far offshore and they tend to be larger than the others from the state

the Panhandle ( appalache to p-cola - ) offers the least expensive opportunity for them because they are near shore ( from pc to destin they are the closest ). Their population will be greater but they will smaller than what comes out of the space coast.

the west coast is good but it will be the most expensive...most places it is a minimum 40 mile run one way to get at them and we only have 10 days to catch them....the sizes vary
huge ones are not everday for most

So Fl, the keys , sw fl, big bend - don't bother ...not a consistent fishery for them ...although KW get's em but they are far out as well

Go to St. Augustine and fish on either the Jody Lynn or Endless Summer. I highly doubt you will Find a better Snapper/Grouper trip than either of these boats when it comes to BIG fish. They both run out of the Conch House. It's a great town as well if you've never been.
