Hey there. My buddy took the family down to Tampa bay for vacation and his son caught th below pictured fish and wants to be able to tell him what he caught. Unfortunately I was of no help... I guessed bonito, mackerel. But I fish on a lake. Ha. Any ideas? Thanks guys!

Get you a bait dehooker when handling these.

thanks for the tips, I will send him a message and tell him in case they get any more while there. we are bass fishermen here on Lake Lanier, so he was excited to catch anything down in tampa bay. he was using some live bait to catch this that he caught on sabiki rig.

The 3 spikes by the anal vent are mildly venomous. About like a bee sting.

They make decent live bait though. I used a lot of them when I worked in costa rice when we couldn't get sardines. No complaints from the roosters or snappers.
