Default Ocho Rios Jamaica sport fishing questions

Hello all,
Thank you very much for your time. I am doing some early research on a trip I intend to take to Ocho Rios Jamaica in September 2015. Firstly my travel dates are flexible, I am an avid fisherman up in the New England region of the US where I am from and I only picked this time because that's when the Port Antonio Blue Marlin Tournament is, so I assumed that would bring the heaviest action, was this a correct assumption?

Also, when I have attempted to look up some charter boats from this location my search has come up very blank which is much different than other locations I have traveled and fished. One of the only posts I found was on this forum back in 2007 recommending two outfits Triple "B"
Tel: 876-975-3273

King Fisher & Sun Fisher
Tel: 876-974-2726

But neither line seems to still be connected and I can't find any website or information on either. Does anybody know if either is still in business, or have any recommendation on who to fish with in or around Ocho Rios?

Thanks a bunch for your time

When we fished out ocho rios, pretty sure we just paid for a boat ride. No fish, pulling same baits all day not much effort.

We went to Negril and were told not to bother fishing as it sucks. A group went from our hotel and it sucked. Caught nothing.

Save your money. Book a catamaran sail ride from st ann to dunns river. They provide rum punch.
Grab several cohibas or montecristos for the ride. Climb the falls. Take pics. Drink a lot and enjoy the
Cuban cigars. Ask me how I know.

It's been years since I was down there...the guys walking the beach looking for "fishing parties" were sketchy at best....had 20ft open row boats...went 2-300 yards out and trolled for ????....go look at the eight rivers and have lunch at the renaissance

King Fisher and Sun Fisher belong to my cousins - at least King Fisher will be fishing the Port Antonio tournament at the time you will be down there, and my cousin has won the tournament several times.

Boats do not have to go far since deep water is right outside the reef. That being said, however, I go back home there around Christmas every year and generally do not fish (or at least do not spend any time or $$ trying to fish).

If you are expecting Costa Rica-like billfishing, you will likely be disappointed. Tourist charters out of Ocho Rios will not likely put in the time or effort to hook you up on billfish, and any hookup will generally be blind luck . . .

If you are looking for meat fish - dolphin, king macks, or bottom fish, one of those local "canoes" may be the cheapest and best way to go to find some success - not sure how to tell you to find a good one though . . .
